Alex Nitzman - Co-Founder of AARoads.com

Alex Nitzman grew up in Newark, Delaware and spent part of his childhood in Savannah, Georgia. His first interest in roads started with noticing traffic signals in Newark and the construction of Interstate 495 east of Wilmington. From there travels between Wilmington, Delaware and Savannah, Georgia introduced Alex to freeway travel and Interstate 95. Alex drew maps as a child and planned the routes for family trips by age 10.

Nitzman began learning html and web design in the Fall of 1998 and published his first page in early 1999. Andy Field and Nitzman collaborated on the A.A. Highway Sign Gallery in 1999 and merged their material as AARoads.com on July 19, 2000.

Nitzman studied mathmatics at Delaware Technical and Community College and meteorology & geography at the University of Delaware and works as a catrographer and map researcher today. In his spare time, Alex enjoys hiking, tracking severe weather, watching football and baseball, listening to XM Radio, and spending time with his son.

Found throughout AARoads are road maps created in Fireworks and Illustrator by Alex Nitzman. These maps are sized down so that they fit the template and do not take up to much space to save on bandwidth and server space. All highway shield graphics found throughout AARoads were also created by Alex with Fireworks and Adobe Photoshop.
