I'm not surprised that the old alignment (Pascao County 35A) is the faster one. People flock to the main arterials without thinking of the alternatives. Such is the case with State Roads 54 and 56 as well.

As far as the state-named shield sighting, a few have popped up here and there around the state, with I-95 FL shields in Brevard, I-295 shields apparently in Duval somewhere, another I-75 FL shield in Wildwood, several I-275 FL shields in Pinellas, etc. etc. I still don't see it as a whole-sale return to their use in Florida, but we'll take what we can get!

Very interesting... my wife has several relatives in Z-hills and Lakeland and we go through the Dade City area all the time on our way to Lakeland.

Last time on our way back to I-75 from Lakeland, we took the Old Lakeland Road (Pasco County 35A, which I assume was US 98 at one time). Amazingly enough, we got through there quicker that if we just followed US 98 into Dade City.

BTW, is FL going back to putting the state name on their Interstate signs?
