Adding another new state to the Midwest section, North Dakota @ AARoads covers photos taken last April in and around the Fargo area. Coverage mainly focuses on Interstate 29 & U.S. 81, Interstate 94 & U.S. 52, and Business Loop Interstate 94 & U.S. 10.

Both freeways expand to six lanes through Fargo, with the expansion project of Interstate 29 still underway that includes a redesign of the 52nd Avenue South interchange in south Fargo. Additional work is slated for Interstate 94 in the form of a new interchange with 9th Street East at West Fargo.

Now, if someone can get over to Interstate 194 and check that out…

We’ve updated our South Dakota highway guides to include photos taken last April in southeast and northeastern parts of the state, including the city of Sioux Falls. New guides cover 100 miles or so of Interstate 29, Interstate 90 east from I-29 to Minnesota, some of the Business, or “Downtown”, Loop and Spurs in Sioux Falls, and the Interstate 229 loop freeway.

The new guides join the original Rapid City and Deadwood area coverage on AARoads itself. See South Dakota @ AARoads for the new pages.

Next up: Fargo, North Dakota!

Interstate 635 is an approximately 12 mile long bypass running to the west of downtown Kansas City. It is mostly in Kansas, but runs into Missouri as well. The entire route was recently reconstructed by KDOT in a $98 million project that also saw the rebuilding of its interchange with Interstate 70. Lets take a quick look at Interstate 635 in Kansas. (Note: The author is just kidding when he says it is boring, he lives next to IH 635 in Dallas and avoids it like the plague)

Interstate 435 spends 80 miles circling Kansas City, and is one of the busiest roads in the metro area. It happens to be the world’s fourth longest beltway with a single number (after Cincy, Berlin, and London). Recently, the busy southern portion of the route in Kansas was reconstructed, and parts of it are still being upgraded. Let’s take a quick look at how KDOT is doing. After the jump, and as always click on most photos for larger versions.

Missouri State Route 249 (two-fortynine, I-49, get it?) is a new freeway being constructed around the east side of Joplin. Currently, Joplin is served by Interstate 44 and a US 71 freeway that runs north from Arkansas and I-540. Such notable names as Langston Hughes and Jackass’ Preston Lacy can claim Joplin as a hometown.

Let’s take a look at the as-yet-incomplete SR 249 – aka the Range Line bypass – after the jump
