David: the main highways are cleared of snow regularly. they make a special effort to do so: closures are only for a few hours or days, as opposed to seasonal.

Great pictures of the Alaska Range. Looks cold its nice to know you can plan the trip so early in the year and the roads are cleared of snow.

Greetings!

Thank you SO much for sharing such WONDERFUL shots of the Icelandic world. Breathtaking.

For me, Iceland is the greatest place on this planet, Heaven on Earth, if you will. I dream to someday, very soon, immigrate to Iceland and spend the rest of my days there.

You're very wise, in my opinion, to have taken the time to go there.

May I ask? What did you take away from the experience? Has it changed how you view anything? Did you feel overwhelmed, at all, by the magnificence of this place? Did you get a chance to visit the infamous Blue Lagoon?

Respectfully,
James "Psiotic" O'Connor

Yellow striping as standard was introduced as part of the MUTCD 1971 edition, mandated in Oct 1971. The MUTCD stated conversion to new standards by 1978 for all states, but most repainting to the full yellow scheme was done in 1973 and 1974.

Hey Alex!

This is an awesome photo blog. Your passion for America's great and pioneering experiment in mobility is inspiring. To extend your work here, I invite you to our platform, InfraInput.org which welcomes any issues and ideas you find in your travels, visits, or everyday commutes on state highways and local roads. It is quite unfortunate most of these systems show marks of aging and congestion. Please be one of our first beta users to turn this situation around.

Thanks!

thank you for your input, John!

could you please elaborate on what you had to do to get this visa? could you do it all on the spot, or did you have to inquire in advance?
