Delaware 7 (Limestone Road) southbound reassurance shield posted after its intersection with Linden Hill Road in the Pike Creek Valley. Limestone Road was widened from two to four lanes between here and Milltown Road in the early 1980s. The slow rolling hills of the Pike Creek Valley (pop. 19,751) are lined with residential subdivisions. Thus Limestone Road is a heavily traveled commuter route from Delaware 2 (Kirkwood Highway) northward. Photo taken 07/31/04. |

The busy intersection of Delaware 7 (Limestone Road) and Milltown Road. McKennans Church Road spurs northeast from Limestone Road to Delaware 41 (Newport-Gap Pike) near Hockessin. The north-south road intersects Milltown Road next to Delaware 7 and thus creates a traffic nightmare due to the close proximity of the respective traffic lights. Milltown Road parallels Delaware 2 from near Delaware Park eastward to Delaware 41. All three routes are busy during the morning and evening commutes. Photo taken 07/31/04. |

Delaware 7 (Limestone Road) continues as a busy four-lane surface arterial through the intersection with Delaware 2 (Kirkwood Highway) to its junction with Delaware 4 (Wilmington Christiana Turnpike) at Stanton. An abandoned concrete arch bridge remains in use as part of a bike path nearby. Photo taken 05/20/07. |

Linden Hill Road eastbound at Delaware 7 (Limestone Road) and the south entrance to Goldey-Beacom College. What once was just the home to a business college and fields is now a burgeoning shopping center and residential area. Goldey-Beacom College was essentially the only building of consequence at the confluence of Delaware 7, Linden Hill Road, and Mermaid Stoney Batter Road in the late 1970s. Then the building boom began in the Pike Creek Valley and Delaware 7 became the crowded arterial it is today. Photo taken 07/31/04. |
