The Guide to Delaware State Route 10A

ALTERNATE

Delaware 10 Alternate was created in 1993 to coincide with the opening of the Smyrna-Dover Bypass portion of the SR 1 Turnpike. Delaware 10 (Lebanon Road) at around the same time saw widening between U.S. 113 & Delaware 1 (Bay Road) and U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway). The alternate version of Delaware 10 turned southward from about halfway between Camden and Dover A.F.B. on Lebanon Road with U.S. 113 Alternate on S. State Street. From there the two routes shared pavement for 1.25 miles south to the community of Rising Sun.

Delaware 10 Alternate turns southwest from State Street (old U.S. 113 Alternate) onto Sorghum Mill Road for 1,000 feet to the five point intersection at Rising Sun with Walnut Shade Road, Star Hill Road, and Rising Road. 3.2 miles to the southwest via Walnut Shade Road is junction U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway) near the town of Woodside (pop. 2,174). In Woodside itself is a half mile overlap with Delaware 15 between U.S. 13 Alternate (Upper King Road) and Dundee Road. West of town Delaware 10 Alternate returns to Delaware 10 3.7 miles west of Woodside via Henry Cowgill Road.

Delaware 10 Alternate Terminus Collection

Western terminus
Delaware 10 Alternate ends at Delaware 10 (Willow Grove Road) in the rural area between the settlements of Petersburg and Willow Grove on Willow Grove Road. There are no photos of the western terminus at this time. If you have one, please send me an email.
Eastern Terminus
The east end of Delaware 10 Alternate occurs at the intersection of Lebanon Road (Delaware 10) and State Street (historic U.S. 113 Alternate) about midway between Camden and Dover A.F.B. on Delaware 10.
