Access to Delaware 100 north (Montchannin Road) and Delaware 141 north (Tyler McConnell Bridge) from Kennett Pike southbound is provided by Montchanin Road northbound. Montchanin Road travels a short distance north to junction Delaware 100 & 141 (Barley Mill Road). From there the two-lane roadway becomes Delaware 100 northbound toward Montchanin, Winterthur, and Pennsylvania. Delaware 141 crosses the Brandywine Creek nearby via the Tyler McConnell Bridge. Delaware 52 (Kennett Pike) southbound at the Wilmington city line and Rising Sun Lane. Rising Sun Lane straddles the city limits between Delaware 52 and the Brandywine Creek. The two-lane roadway links Kennett Pike with Rockford Park before descending steeply to the junction of New Bridge and Henry Clay Road. In conjunction with Powder Mill Road, Rising Sun Lane provides a link to Delaware 141 north near the Dupont Experimental Station. Photo taken 03/19/04.

The descent of Delaware 52 continues from Greenhill Avenue two blocks south to Woodlawn Avenue. Pennsylvania Avenue maintains four lanes through the middle class neighborhoods of north Wilmington through to the intersection with Union Street. Photo taken 03/28/04.
The divided Bancroft Parkway intersects Delaware 52 one block south of Woodlawn Avenue. The green strip through north Wilmington exists in two portions. The southern segment begins at Canby Park and Barry Street and runs northward to Eighth Street. The CSX Railroad corridor cuts a swath between 8th and 9th Streets. The parkway resumes at Ninth Street just north of the railroad undercrossing. From there Bancroft Parkway travels northward to junction Delaware 52, Delaware Avenue, and Kentmere Parkway near the Delaware Art Museum. Photo taken 03/28/04.

Four lanes of Delaware 52 (Pennsylvania Avenue) descend from Greenhill Avenue to the split intersections with Union Street at the CSX Railroad line in Northwest Wilmington. Delaware 2 begins at Pennsylvania Avenue by way of Union Street westbound. The split route follows Union Street (westbound) and Lincoln Street (eastbound between Delaware 52 and Canby Park. The state highway carries five lanes overall and is the main route between north Wilmington and Elsmere and the Kirkwood Highway. The only Delaware 2 shield posted for Union Street on Pennsylvania Avenue southbound resides next to the Union Street east intersection at the CSX overcrossing. The shield however is missing a right-hand arrow for the Union Street westbound turn ahead. Photo taken 04/01/04.
One block south of the westbound beginning of Delaware 2 is the eastern terminus at Lincoln Street. The eastbound only street becomes two-way east of Delaware 52 en route to Thirteenth Street and the Trolley Square vicinity. Photo taken 04/01/04.

Delaware 52 southbound at Clayton Street northbound and a small strip of Twelfth Street eastbound. The wedge created between the three streets was once home to an Interstate 95 Delaware trailblazer. Southbound at Harrison Street. Delaware Avenue begins at Rockford Park in northwest Wilmington. From there the street descends into the Forty Acres and Trolley Square area before ascending again to Harrison Street. At Harrison Street Delaware Avenue becomes one-way northbound only. Therefore southbound drivers are directed westward one block on Harrison Street to Delaware 52 (Pennsylvania Avenue). Photo taken 04/01/04.
Delaware 52 curves toward downtown at the five-way intersection of Delaware Avenue and Van Buren Street. Pennsylvania Avenue ends and Delaware 52 begins its alignment along Delaware Avenue at the north-south Van Buren Street. For southbound motorists no turns are permitted onto Van Buren Street north. With the Dupont high rise taking center stage, Delaware 52 (Delaware Avenue) approaches Jackson Street and the Interstate 95 & U.S. 202 undercrossing. To the right is the southbound Interstate 95 off-ramp from Jackson Street. The eight-lane arterial passes by the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery to the left and the former Chase Manhattan Bank high rises to the right. Overhead guide signs advise motorists of the upcoming Delaware 52 split from Delaware Avenue via Eleventh Street. Madison Street connects Twelfth Street (Delaware 52 northbound) with Delaware Avenue as the two directions of the state route diverge. Ahead Delaware Avenue becomes Tenth Street to the right. The final eight blocks of Delaware 52 south comprise Eleventh Street eastbound through the heart of the business district. Eleventh Street first crosses Washington Street after leaving the six-way intersection of Jefferson Street with Delaware Avenue. The southern terminus of Delaware 52 resides at the Eleventh Street east intersection with Walnut Street north (U.S. 13 Business north).
