Delaware 202 was commissioned in 1984 to take the place of the relocated U.S. 202 along Concord Avenue in the Eastlawn section of Wilmington. The alignment travels southward from the Interstate 95 & U.S. 202 Exit 8 interchange into the city street grid between Broom and Market Streets. Concord Avenue decreases from four to two lanes at Baynard Boulevard from the north. The state route is poorly signed as of April 2004 through the city and passes through economically depressed areas.

Delaware 202 draws to a close at the Concord Avenue intersection with U.S. 13 Business (Market Street) and Vandever Avenue. There is no end sign and the only U.S. 13 Business shield posted for Market Street has also gone missing. Downtown lies a short distance to the right. Ahead is Vandever Avenue, an east-west thoroughfare between Market Street and U.S. 13 (Northeast Boulevard). Unfortunately the neighborhoods along Market Street, Concord Avenue, and Vandever Avenue are in a poor state of existance. Photo taken 08/07/04. |

U.S. 202 trailblazer posted at the U.S. 13 Business (Market Street) intersection with Concord Avenue (Delaware 202). U.S. 202 used to travel through the heart of the city with U.S. 13 to Concord Avenue. However by December 7, 1984 the federal highway saw relocation to an overlap with Interstate 95 between Exits 8 and 5A. Delaware 202 overtook the Concord Avenue alignment between Market Street and Interstate 95. The signalized intersection composes the southern terminus of the state route. Photo taken 10/12/01. |

The west end of Vandever Avenue coincides with the south end of Delaware 202 (Concord Avenue). U.S. 13 Business (Market Street) bisects the two streets between downtown Wilmington and Philadelphia Pike. There are no signs for either U.S. 13 Business or Delaware 202 posted along Vandever Avenue westbound. Photo taken 08/07/04. |

Delaware 202 (Concord Pike) southbound at the Interstate 95 northbound cloverleaf ramp. The four lane pike descends into the city of Wilmington above the freeway and below the CSX Railroad line ahead. The signalized intersection with Broom Street sees Delaware 202 change from Concord Pike to Concord Avenue in the Eastlawn section of the city. Photo taken 03/27/04.

DelDOT placed an end shield for U.S. 202 on Concord Pike southbound within the Interstate 95 interchange in 2001. The end sign however is erroneous in a sense in that the official southern terminus of U.S. 202 occurs at the junction of U.S. 13 & 40 with Delaware 141 at Basins Corner. This particular shield assembly however indicates the transition from U.S. 202 to Delaware 202 for Concord Pike/Avenue. U.S. 202 departs Concord Pike for Interstate 95 southbound behind the camera. Delaware 202 north (Concord Avenue) passes underneath the CSX Railroad line ahead of the directional cloverleaf interchange with Interstate 95 & U.S. 202. The state route becomes Concord Pike and U.S. 202 ahead. To the right is the Interstate 95 northbound on-ramp for Arden, Claymont, Chester, and Philadelphia. Photos taken 08/07/04 & 05/19/07. |

Traffic lights were added to Concord Avenue at the Interstate 95 & U.S. 202 northbound off-ramp to Delaware 202 south in 2004. The lights accomodate turn movements for drivers destined for Broom Street northbound. Lens above Delaware 202 northbound remain a static green arrow as no cross traffic is permitted onto Concord Avenue northbound. Photo taken 05/19/07. |

New overhead for Interstate 95 south, still omitting U.S. 202 on Delaware 202 at the transition to U.S. 202 north. A cloverleaf ramp departs beyond the northbound ramp for Interstate 95 & U.S. 202 southbound to downtown Wilmington and Newport. Photo taken 05/19/07. |

Concord Avenue and Delaware 202 begin at the intersection of U.S. 13 Business (Market Street) and Vandever Avenue in the East Lawn section of Wilmington. From there Concord Avenue ascends northward to Interstate 95 and U.S. 202. Pictured here is the northbound beginning of Concord Avenue as it intersects Tatnall Street and West 22nd Street. The flashers hanging here do not function. Photo taken 08/07/04. |

A close-up look at the only northbound Delaware 202 reassurance shield posted along Concord Avenue in the city of Wilmington. Delaware 202 is sparsely signed due to missing signs along the mainline and nonexistent signs on the intersecting streets. Photo taken 08/07/04. |

Changes made to the Interstate 95 & Delaware 202 (Concord Pike / Avenue) interchange include the installation of a traffic light at the end of the Interstate 95 northbound off-ramp to Concord Avenue south. The change coincides with the lengthening of a segregated left turn lane for Broom Street north to Miller Road. Delaware 202 drivers destined for Miller Road must move to the left before the intersection with the Interstate 95 off-ramp. The begin Delaware 202 shield/end U.S. 202 shield remains erroneous as U.S. 202 does not end here but instead merges onto Interstate 95 south to Exit 5A. Photo taken 12/29/07 |

Delaware 202 (Concord Avenue) begins initially with four overall lanes as it departs the Exit 8 interchange of Interstate 95 & U.S. 202. At Baynard Boulevard the north-south street reduces to two lanes. The junction of Concord Avenue and Baynard Boulevard is a seven-way affair with Harrison Street and West 25th Street tieing into the fray. At one point Baynard Boulevard carried the southbound component of U.S. 202 into downtown Wilmington. Concord Avenue carried U.S. 202 northbound only from here south to Market Street. One of many signalized intersections along Concord Avenue in East Lawn Wilmington. Crossing paths here is the southbound only Madison Street. Photo taken 08/07/04. |

Delaware 202 (Concord Avenue) cuts a diagonal through the existing street grid of northeast Wilmington. Thus the intersections between Concord Avenue and its cross streets are generally angled. Pictured here is the southbound intersection at Jefferson Street. Photo taken 08/07/04. |
 |
One of the main north-south thoroughfares through the East Lawn section of Wilmington besides Broom and Market Streets is Washington Street. The two-lane street is lined with signals instead of stop signs and is one of the preferred truck routes through northeast Wilmington. Additionally Washington Street used to carry components of both U.S. 202 and Delaware 4 in its past. Photo taken 08/07/04. |
 |
Southbound Delaware 202 enters its final block at the intersection of Tatnall Street. Tatnall Street flows northbound only from West 18th Street to West 31st Street and again from West 33rd Street to Lea Boulevard in Northeast Wilmington. Delaware 202 ends at the following intersection with U.S. 13 Business (Market Street). Photo taken 08/07/04. |
