Business Delaware 404 consists of the former Delaware 404 mainline routing through the town of Bridgeville. The state route was commissioned in 1999 upon completion of a new Delaware 404 bypass alignment along Newton Road north of Bridgeville. What was Delaware 404 Alternate on Newton Road and U.S. 13 became the Delaware 404 mainline. DelDOT mileage statistics however still recognize the Business alignment as part of the overall Delaware 404 routing.

| Approaching the split between Delaware 404 and Delaware 404 Business on the Seashore Highway eastbound. Erroneous U.S. 404 shields are in place on the approach shield assembly. There once was a U.S. 104, but never a U.S. 404. The area of north of Bridgeville is otherwise very rural in nature. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| Delaware 404 eastbound turns left onto Newton Road for a two-mile trek to U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway). Delaware 404 Business continues southward along the Seashore Highway into Bridgeville itself. The two highways will reunite south of town. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| The first eastbound Delaware 404 reassurance shield posted on the Seashore Highway. Delaware 404 Business travels 1.5 miles southward to Market Street and Federalsburg Road (former Delaware 18) in Bridgeville. There the route turns east onto Market Street for six blocks to U.S. 13 Business (Main Street). Delaware 404 Business follows two lane highways and streets overall. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| Departing Bridgeville on U.S. 13 Business south & Delaware 404 Business east (Seashore Highway). Posted here is a junction shield for U.S. 13 for the upcoming intersection with the Dupont Highway. Both U.S. 13 Business and Delaware 404 Business draw to a close here. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| Motorists bound for Fenwick Island and other southern shore points are advised to turn southward on U.S. 13 for either Delaware 20 or Delaware 24 east instead of remaining on Delaware 404. Motorists continuing through the intersection return onto Delaware 404 eastbound as the state highway leaves the overlap with U.S. 13. Photo taken 04/13/04.
|
| No end signs are posted for either U.S. 13 Business or Delaware 404 Business. Several travel amenities are accessible at the Seashore Highway and U.S. 13 intersection otherwise. For motorists turning southward, U.S. 13 intersects Delaware 18 in 1.7 miles, Delaware 20 in five miles, and U.S. 9 in 11 miles. Delaware 404 itself merges with Delaware 18 (Bowdens Garage Road) 1.7 miles to the east. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| Junction sign for U.S. 13 "Alternate" and Delaware 404 on U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway) northbound. To the left is a truck restriction sign for Delaware 404 Business through Bridgeville. Part of the reasoning for relocating Delaware 404 outside of Bridgeville was based upon the complaints from residents of the heavy truck traffic through town. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| Delaware 404 shield assembly posted for the upcoming merge of Delaware 404 westbound onto U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway) northbound. The two highways share pavement for 2.5 miles and stay outside of the Bridgeville city limits. Delaware 404 crosses the Maryland state line 11 miles northwest of here. Photo taken 04/13/04.

| U.S. 13 Business (signed here as Alternate) and Delaware 404 Business angle northwestward via Seashore Highway and Main Street into downtown Bridgeville. The signalized intersection for the joint terminus includes mast arm assemblies for the Delaware 404 westbound and U.S. 13 Business & Delaware 404 Business movements. Photo taken 04/13/04.
