BUSINESS

Delaware 896 Business follows the former Delaware 896 mainline route through the village of Glasgow.
The two-lane roadway serves Hodgson High School, People's Square Shopping Center, and a handful of
residences. Until 1993, Delaware 896 remained through the community. A four lane divided bypass opened
east of town allowing Delaware 896 to bypass Glasgow. Although planned as part of a U.S. 301 freeway,
Delaware 896 intersects U.S. 40 at a large signalized intersection just east of Delaware 896 Business.
The southern terminus of Delaware 896 Business ties into the Porter Road intersection of U.S. 301 &
Delaware 896. The official Delaware state map reveals a partial cloverleaf interchange at the location.
However no construction is present and the interchange concept remains a mystery to AARoads. At the
northern end of Delaware 896 Business is a cul-de-sac that returns northbound motorists southward. An
exit ramp carries Delaware 896 southbound drivers onto Glasgow Avenue and Delaware 896 Business
otherwise.
