The Guide to U.S. Highway 13 Southbound in Delaware

Southbound

Known as the Dupont Highway or Parkway from Wilmington to the Maryland state line, U.S. 13 composes the longest signed highway within the state of Delaware. U.S. 13 enters the state north of Salisbury, Maryland at the town of Delmar. From there the federal highway continues northward to Seaford, Laurel, Greenwood, Harrington, Camden, Dover, Smyrna, Odessa, Wilmington, and Claymont. The federal highway crosses the Pennsylvania state line via Philadelphia Pike into Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania. U.S. 13 varies between four to six lanes throughout the entire state.

Lorewood Grove Road carries Delaware 1 southbound traffic from the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Bridge onto U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway) at South St. Georges. The two-lane highway was realigned to tie into Main Street just west of the St. Georges Bridge south approach. Traffic destined for U.S. 13 northbound must use Main Street to loop underneath the bridge to make the northbound movement onto Dupont Highway. Photo taken 04/13/04.
