Here are the headlines I found for California Highways in October. If I missed something, or your want to discuss any of these, this is your chance to bring it to my attention.

The last thing I thought I see was some hope for CA 39.  I just figured that was a done deal for good and nobody was interested in revisiting the issue.  Maybe there is some closet hope for CA 173 if 39 ever gets rebuilt?  Paid a recent visit to the Islip Saddle and the north terminus of CA 39 at CA 2 Angeles Crest:

All and all I say the road surface looks pretty good considering how long it's been abandoned.  Shame pedestrians are banned, I would have loved to grab a couple mile run to see if I could make it the landslide for some photos.

Once that 71 Challenger US 66 sign is up in Barstow I'm heading up there to get a picture with my 2016 in front of it.  :-D

I see nothing prohibiting roller blades.

Too bad I quit club hockey after high school, I'm pretty sure my roller blades went into the trash 3-4 years later...but that was still two decades ago.   Really I would be curious to find out why foot traffic is banned on abandoned 39...not that it really stops people on bikes or hiking.  I would imagine someone from the city had to do something stupid to get that added emphasis...maybe something drummed up with land slides or big horn sheep?  I'm fairly certain 173 never got the same kind of band.

Nothing about unicycles either, only bicycles.

On a side note, was a decision ever made regarding the 710 tunnel? I posted as someone had told me they were going to kill it off in October, but heard nothing about it. Hopefully that was false, which it seems it was.

I didn't see anything in the news that I recall. You'll probably have a recommendation from LA Metro, followed by an action by the CTC. I don't check the CTC minutes until I'm doing page updates -- which will likely be Thanksgiving weekend.
