This isn't an easy bridge to hit, as it's up very high, but the USNS Harry L. Martin somehow did today.  They are estimating ~1 month to fix the damage and re-open it to traffic.

Florida, two military oopsies in under a year. Earlier this year a C17 landed at a municipal airport in tampa due to it having a runway that was aligned with MacDill, but was east a lil bit

How did that turn out? Was the municipal airport runway long enough? I definitely looks shorter than the one at McDill.

Thankfully they had enough room, backed up and was able to take off again. 1,000 dollars in damage from the rubber streaks on the runway from the brakes

Bad, bad seamanship on this ships part.

Should have done a proper draft report based upon a light load (thus further out of the water). Each nautical chart has a center, left and right clearance and depth with bridges like this. Even if you don't check the chart and depth your naked eye can back you up.

Technically, on the civvy tugboat skipper's part, but yes. Tides happen and ships rise in the water, whoda thunk...
Rule 37. There is no 'overkill'. There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'.
