Any interest in doing this again?  The Daytona 500 is this Sunday, so there isn't much time.

It appears ESPN has phased out the Stock Car Challenge, where we did our league last year.

And just for the heck of it, here is how we finished last year.
1st jcm9572 (mefailenglish), 5,552 points
2nd 6018555 (flaroads), 5,498 pts
3rd Leudimin (Me ), 5,432 pts
4th jlyben9174 (Alex's wife), 5,417 pts
5th or 6th kshighways (route56), 5,125 or 4,756 pts (As he missed the 3 first races I adjusted him with 369 extra points)
6th or 5th AARoads (Alex), 4,976 pts
7th on_wisconsin33 (on_wisconsin), 1,436 pts (He vanished in mid-May)
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

We can do one on via NASCAR.com. If you guys are really interested either mention it on here or send me a PM by Friday and I will set it up. In reading the rules its very similar to the ESPN one with a few perks, and we can create it at any point.

FLRoads

Come join us in the 2014 Fantasy NASCAR League!!! We had a good turn out last year and hope to continue the pace this year!

Since the ESPN NASCAR Fantasy is no more, I have created a group profile over at FOXSports. For those who participated with us before, it pretty much follows the same format. And for most of those who participated last year, I have sent invitations to join our group. If I neglected sending you an initial email I do apologize.

If you want to join, either send me a PM on here and I will send you an invite, or go to FOXSports, create an account, then search for the group AARoads.

Also, if you have any issues, please contact me on here or email me at bivy@aaroads.com.

I had to look in the spam folder for the invitation. And again, I have to merge my two last names into one... At least FOX has a cable TV channel in Spain, unlike ESPN.

Update: The rules are a bit different from last year. No salary cap (Yes!), but there is a "segment cap", that's it, one cannot choose the same driver more than 4 races in a series of 13, if he does that the racer won't score anymore. And the captain scores double.

Alright I am in again! Our contingent from last year, sans onWisconsin, are all on board too. How about anyone else?  :D :)

And we start the season as we finished last year, with mefailenglish claiming the first place and route56 getting the last place. Apart from that, I decided to include the FOX experts in the scoreboard, to see how we compare to them :sombrero:, however if you don't like it I can make a group-only scoreboard. Here is the first scoreboard:

1. Kaitlyn, 269 points
2. Steve, 254 pts
3. Danielle, 235 pts
4. mefailenglish, 231 pts
5. Leudimin (Me ), 208 pts
6. Matt, 195 pts
7. Alex, 188 pts
8. flaroads, 181 pts
9. Adam, 169 pts
10. Alex's wife, 161 pts
11. route56, 136 pts

Next round we go to Avondale AZ. Last year I made a mistake, as I thought the time jumped to DST on the 1st weekend of March instead of the 2nd weekend (Here it doesn't happen until the last weekend), so with DST or not, it is always the same time zone in Arizona. Good luck to all!

PS: I can't wait for the first visit to Talladega, as now I have a friend with the same name as the race (without the 499 part, of course)

There's also bonus points for a driver who finishes better than his/her qualifying position (no penalty if they don't).

Yeah, my roster kinda got swept up in wrecks :)
Peace to you, and... don't drive like my brother.

Alex

The longest rainout in Daytona 500 history really put a damper on the day. We got to see the first 38 laps, but after 3 hours of cold wind driven mist and rain with a porous grandstand above you, we gave up and headed home.

One of the pace laps at the start of the race. The racing got good after the Kyle Larson spinout, but then came the rain.

Three hours of this got old. There was continuous announcements about the Volusia County Tornado Warning, with a few loud crashes of thunder mixed in. I was recording some of the storm and audio message with my DSLR, but stopped it just before a crash of thunder. The sferic from that CG came through on the PA system was quite pronouced.

Around 5 pm we ran to the shuttle bus during a lull and dried out on the ride back to the mud riddled grass parking area. Fortunately we were parked next to the gravel roadway, because many others got their vehicles stuck in the ruts or had their cars mud bombed. Despite everyone who had already left, it was still a solid hour to get out of there.

We got home around 9:30 and wearily watched the rest of the race. Was good to see side by side racing for the majority of the finish.

How about color coding the experts so that it's easy to pick them out?
FWIW I'll pretend to be this Steve for points purposes, since I have no interest otherwise (:

CNGL-Leudimin

I've colored them red. Oh, and since you changed the nick to Alps there is no need for a disambiguation :sombrero:.

Aside from the fact that I'm out of the cellar, how goes the leaderboard?
Peace to you, and... don't drive like my brother.

R.P.K.

CNGL-Leudimin

Why I put Johnson as the captain instead of Harvick? :banghead: I've scored lower than average... The leaderboard is now as follows. The cellar is now owned by a FOX "expert" :sombrero:

1. (1.) Kaitlyn, 555 points (+286)
2. (2.) Steve, 550 pts (+296) (Runner-up)
3. (3.) Danielle, 510 pts (+275)
4. (4.) mefailenglish, 508 pts (+277)
5. (7.) Alex, 479 pts (+291) (Group runner-up)
6. (5.) Leudimin (Me ), 445 pts (+237)
7. (6.) Matt, 439 pts (+244)
8. (8.) flaroads, 433 pts (+246)
9. (11.) route56, 404 pts (+268)
10. (10.) Alex's wife, 391 pts (+230)
11. (9.) Adam, 387 pts (+218)

Next week we go to Las Vegas. Watch out the watch, as time advances one hour this weekend. In Europe it won't happen for the next three weeks, though...

By the way, there is a special trophy for the one who scores exactly 238 points in a race. I missed that by one point...

CNGL-Leudimin

Alex's wife got a nice choice this time. 4 of the other 5 in the group, as well as 4 of the 5 experts had either Stewart (Like me) or Harvick, who scored only 11 and 4 points respectively. And again, I miss the 238 point trophy, as I have exceeded that mark by one point. Now all of the teamers here are squeezed between a group of 3 experts ahead and the remaining two behind, as can be seen in the scoreboard, thanks to Matt's crash which puts him in the cellar.

1. (2.) Steve, 797 pts (+247)
2. (1.) Kaitlyn, 796 points (+241)
3. (3.) Danielle, 756 pts (+246)
4. (4.) mefailenglish, 731 pts (+223)
5. (5.) Alex, 702 pts (+223)
6. (6.) Leudimin (Me ), 684 pts (+239)
7. (10.) Alex's wife, 650 pts (+259) (Runner-up)
8. (8.) flaroads, 648 pts (+215)
9. (9.) route56, 647 pts (+243)
10. (11.) Adam, 619 pts (+232)
11. (7.) Matt, 616 pts (+177)

Next stop is at Bristol TN. I hope not to crash badly like I did last year, since I make up my team with a secret formula, like Coca-Cola's :sombrero:.

Okay, if four of the five "experts" have Kyle Busch as the captain, why I would haven't him? By the way, I renamed my team, no more of a side valley in the Pyrenees for now. But the new name is nice :sombrero:

And after a green-white-checker finish (That explains why they did three extra laps) we all except the webmaster crashed badly. If I knew that, I would have put Vickers as the captain, I would have gotten 128 points alone. Scoreboard:

1. (1.) Steve, 979 points (+182)
2. (2.) Kaitlyn, 957 pts (+161)
3. (4.) mefailenglish, 919 pts (+188)

Next sunday we go to Fontana CA. By the way, I was looking at the schedule and Darlington and the first race in Kansas City have swapped dates, we will go to the latter just after the first visit to Talladega (I can't wait for that because of its name :sombrero:, I know it's a chain of lease-to-own stores but I have a friend with the same name)

Didn't get to see any of the race either as the rain delayed it so long...then they got 100 laps in when I was unaware, and then another long rain delayed kicked in. They resumed so late that the race broadcast shifted from regular Fox to Fox Sports 1, which I don't get.

CNGL-Leudimin

Wow, things messed up well this week. Epic failure not only for all us, but also for Adam and (especially) Danielle. If you though you scored low this week, please see the scoreboard :sombrero:. Also, no overall runner-up this week.

1. (1.) Steve, 1,231 points (+252)
2. (2.) Kaitlyn, 1,186 pts (+229)
3. (3.) mefailenglish, 1,063 pts (+144)
4. (5.) Alex, 1,015 pts (+102)
5. (10.) Matt, 992 pts (+204)
6. (8.) Alex's wife, 966 pts (+157) (Group runner-up)
7. (4.) Danielle, 964 pts (+47) (Yes, that's not a typo)
8. (6.) Leudimin (Me ), 950 pts (+102)
9. (9.) flaroads, 930 pts (+135)
10. (7.) route56, 925 pts (+112)
11. (11.) Adam, 908 pts (+131)

Next Sunday we go to Martinsville VA. I hope we'll get better results there.

Martinsville saw better results at least. Thanks to the epic fail Danielle had last week, I have overtaken that beauty, but I got overtaken by Adam. Brent is now down in the cellar. By the way, the time issues I had for most of March got spontaneously solved :sombrero:.

1. (1.) Steve, 1,438 points (+207)
2. (2.) Kaitlyn, 1,382 pts (+196)
3. (3.) mefailenglish, 1,261 pts (+198)
4. (5.) Matt, 1,215 pts (+223)
5. (6.) Alex's wife, 1,193 pts (+227) (Group runner-up)
6. (4.) Alex, 1,189 pts (+174)
7. (11.) Adam, 1,163 pts (+255) (Runner-up)
8. (8.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,153 pts (+206)
9. (7.) Danielle, 1,143 pts (+179)
10. (10.) route56, 1,125 pts (+200)
11. (9.) flaroads, 1,096 pts (+166)

Next Sunday we go to near Fort Worth TX. Now things start to be challengening with that limit of four races per driver and segment...

CNGL-Leudimin

^^ Sorry, you aren't here :-P. You would go by Alps, not Steve.

Better later than never... I got a ton of points this time! Epic fail that of Brent, with the captain alone I've scored more points than all Brent's drivers combined. Here is the scoreboard.
1. (1.) Steve, 1,661 points (+223)
2. (2.) Kaitlyn, 1,618 pts (+236)
3. (3.) mefailenglish, 1,546 pts (+286)
4. (4.) Matt, 1,463 pts (+248)
4. (8.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,463 pts (+307) (Runner-up)
6. (7.) Adam, 1,441 pts (+278)
7. (9.) Danielle, 1,424 pts (+281)
8. (6.) Alex, 1,421 pts (+232)
9. (10.) route56, 1,342 pts (+217)
10. (5.) Alex's wife, 1,339 pts (+146)
11. (11.) flaroads, 1,219 pts (+123)

Next Sunday we go to Darlington SC. Then there's the Easter week off.

I'm striving to be number one, twice! lol  :-D

CNGL-Leudimin

Richie could have scored around 270 points if he didn't pick Bayne :sombrero:. And at least Brent scored higher than someone else (Alex in this case). By the way, if last week there was a tie on the 4th place, this week there's no one due to another tie in the 3rd place. And I remember there's a special trophy for the one who scores exactly 238 points in a race. Scoreboard:
1. (1.) Steve, 1,901 points (+240)
2. (2.) Kaitlyn, 1,891 pts (+273)
3. (3.) mefailenglish, 1,775 pts (+228)
3. (4.) Matt, 1,775 pts (+312) (Runner-up)
5. (4.) Leudimin (Me ), 1,666 pts (+203)
6. (6.) Adam, 1,614 pts (+173)
7. (10.) Alex's wife, 1,590 pts (+251) (Group runner-up)
8. (7.) Danielle, 1,581 pts (+157)
9. (9.) route56, 1,573 pts (+231)
10. (8.) Alex, 1,560 pts (+139)
11. (11.) flaroads, 1,365 pts (+146)

Full moon (And eclipse) occurs tomorrow Tuesday. Since this is the first full moon after the spring equinox it means next Sunday is Easter and thus is the NASCAR week off. It returns in a couple weeks at Richmond VA!
