Interstate 49 segment in Kansas City on U.S. 71, not signed yet?

I have also noticed that Interstate 49 has not been signed on the U.S. 71 segment in Kansas City, Missouri.  Any comments, please.

I' ve read that community opposition has prevented that part of "I-49" (U.S. 71) from being upgraded to Interstate standard.
