QuoteAugust 21, 2017:  Post road photos taken during a solar eclipse.

Lawrence, KS, was supposed to see about 99.3% coverage at the peak, but I don't think anyone here actually saw it.

The first photo, taken at 11:40 this morning (right as the eclipse began), is at the corner of Iowa St. (US 59) and 23rd St/Clinton Pkwy. While the eclipse is not in the photo, it does show the clouds that are about to ruin the experience.

Clouds ruining the experience at the peak (1:06pm). It was dark enough for people to turn on their headlights, and it triggered the streetlights and backlit street blades, as you can make out near the middle of the photo.

I took this last one walking back to my dorm. It's more clouds with (according to my Google Sky Map app) the eclipse behind it.

I need to make travel plans for the 2024 eclipse.

QuoteAugust 22, 2017:  Post signs for the evacuation routes for natural disasters, such as hurricanes, tsunamis, snow emergencies, and floods.

I've started probably half of the daily challenges in the past week.  Maybe I should stop, but it's 11am Eastern.  If no one wants to keep these going, that's fine, but I've got challenges backed up my sleeve for days.

It doesn't say they have to be real signs or photographs of signs, so here's my crude concept for using the evacuation symbol as a route shield.

Thanks. :) I meant this to be for the 22nd, but obviously I didn't get around to it!

One more, because it's an old Key(s) Shield:

As you can tell, Key Largo hasn't been engulfed by a blue sign yet. Stay tuned and keep it here for the latest sign obscuring warnings.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw US71's submission from yesterday:

This assembly in Newtown, PA - it's all out of order, and similar route numbers don't help:

Look at this insanity on Camp Street in East Peoria.  Pay attention to the second sign assembly in the background to cover all of the routes not mentioned in the foreground.  It would be much easier for drivers to read one sign for each direction.  Imagine going straight, and having two different signs for which routes you'd be on if you went straight.  Put US150 and IL-8 eastbound on one sign!

Here's a train (behind the Broadway St overpass) going over I-35W as I took a picture of the old Metrodome sign before it was replaced.

That looks more like a train photo that has a road in it. ;-)

Also, the challenge was road photos that had photos of trains in them, not just trains in them. This means a photo of a photo.

typo.  Hadn't drank my coffee when i started today's challenge.  A road photo with a train included in the photo would be a more accurate description of the challenge's intent.  I've modified the original post with wording that is more clear.

I'll have to see if I got any photos of the Watts Bar nuclear power plant evacuation route signage on Monday. I don't usually play the catch-up games, but I could post a photo of an evacuation route sign taken during the eclipse.
