Kohls needs to look in the mirror, as they only have themselves to blame. As someone who worked for them for just shy of 5 years during college, their inventory was (and likely still is) out of control. It used to be where they would rent a trailer during the holidays for overflow merchandise. Soon, those rental storage units stayed year-round, then began to multiply. One of my jobs was to find creative ways to shoehorn more crap in the back room, because they were sent too much. Unfortunately, along with the inventories, the crap to quality ratio has risen as well. Last but certainly not least, shoppers are wising up to their "sales" tactics. There's an obvious reason why things are perennially on sale. If something is at a [inflated] regular price, shoppers know it'll be on sale when the weekend comes 'round.

They may not be in as big of trouble as Sears or Kmart are today, but they're slowly nipping at the troubled heels of JCPenny and will be in the same boat if they don't see the light.

Kohl's has way overextended, IMHO.  Far too many stores placed too closely to each other.  Wouldn't surprise me if they had a major wave of store closings soon.
