1980s proposal to replace NYC's Williamsburg Bridge

I found this today from one of the blogs I follow.  In the 1980s, the Williamsburg Bridge, which connects the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan, was in particularly bad shape.  Thus, there was a proposal to replace the historic bridge with a bridge that featured a number of bronze mirrored panels and a restaurant atop one of the bridge's towers.  Read more at... http://gothamist.com/2014/05/09/this_shiny_80s_nightmare_almost_rep.php

That's funny.  Not because of the restaurant -- bridges have had businesses on them since medieval times -- but because of being covered in mirrored bronze.
