I have a youtube video that I took last Fall coming into Orlando.  Just for fun lets see if some of you can identify the roads being seen from above and where at.  Even waterways too, if you would like to point out or anything of interest.

I can't help you with your video, but I'm very familar with the approach into LAX.  Every airplane basically approaches from the East* to head to the runway.  The two main runways are close to the 105 freeway, so if you know the streets between the 110 freeway and the Airport, they are fairly easy to spot.  It also helps that this part of LA is a perfect grid.


* Of course planes from Asia approach L.A. from the west, but they generally fly towards the east side of town many miles north or south of the 105 corridor and then head back to the west for the final approach.  While I have never flew from Asia, I have done many flights from Sacramento, which is NW of LA, and that is what is done.  IIRC the plane approaches from the Ocean at Pacific Palisades, flies at high altitude over Beverly Hills and Hollywood and then makes a right turn right at the LA river and another right towards LAX.  Flights from the north, will generally fly between Manchester and Century and land at the northern runway.  Flights from the south will generally fly between Century and the 105 and land at the southern runway.  Many businesses along the flight path will advertise on their roofs, especially the Casino at Hollywood Park.

depends on which part of Asia.  a plane from, say, Narita, will have its great circle route almost exactly match the west coast of North America, from Alaska all the way down to LAX.

a plane from Manila will indeed be coming from the west until its final approach.
