Stumbled across the following in the OK statutes:
§69-501E.  The Commission shall provide and maintain a map of the state which shall show all the highways which have been designated as part of the State Highway System and, when practical, status of improvement thereon.  In addition, the Commission shall include on such map the principal access road to every city and town not served by the State Highway System and which has a United States Post Office or with a population in excess of one hundred (100) persons according to the latest Federal Decennial Census.
Added by Laws 1968, c. 415, § 501, operative July 1, 1968.  Amended by Laws 1970, c. 59, § 1, emerg. eff. March 16, 1970; Laws 1998, c. 73, § 1, eff. Nov. 1, 1998; Laws 1998, c. 206, § 1, eff. Nov. 1, 1998.

My question: do other states put these kind of requirements in statute?
When you come to a fork in the road... TAKE IT.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Explains why there's always a gray line to a town if it doesn't have a state highway spur.
