Mountain Parkway's 50th anniversary

50 years ago today, the road highlighted in my avatar opened for travel.


Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

The only parkway I've yet to have driven every mile of. I will someday, though.

I meant to add more to this blurb but forgot.

When I posted about it on Facebook, some of my friends got into a discussion on that road. While it has made eastern Kentucky much more accessible, some think it may have had a role in harming small town businesses because now it's much easier to drive to Winchester or Lexington to shop. One friend said that while the road enables him to commute to work in Lexington every day, he wonders what his small town would be like business-wise.
