Over here we get TWO fireworks displays!  The 3rd of July is done by an Indian casino and the 4th is handled by the city of Coos Bay.  Not bad for an area of 35K (incorporated and unincorporated)!

US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

Flipping midweek holidays in which neighbors have a license to make bangs until 1 or 2 AM on a morning when most people have to get up and go to work.

The firecracker/M-80 brigade has been unusually active since about dusk today; they're not only setting off car alarms up & down the street, but are scaring the shit out of the neighborhood dogs, including our Siberian husky (who is hunkered down under my chair as I write this!)  The SJ fire & police have been busy publicizing the fact that such things are patently illegal within city limits, but to no avail -- and this has gone on year after year for the 5 summers I've been back up here.  Quite a bit worse this year -- who knows, maybe it's the "Trump effect" enhancing the "rules?.....we don't need no stinking rules!" syndrome.  :eyebrow:
