Does this count? Capitol Ave is about five blocks long and, predictably, is named for the state capitol building.

Cullman County labels everything with a number, although this example is near the county line:

Well, is it the way to get to the capitol from this point? I'm very hestitant to say that this satisfies the challenge because it's not explicitly clear that this road goes to the capitol. (I could name a road in the middle of nowhere "Capitol Road" just because I feel like it.) I'd really prefer something that flat-out says "State Capitol" or is rather obviously a way to the capitol or its complex (like the Louisiana picture I posted).

In this case, yes, it is, though I'll admit that it's actually some distance from the interchange itself to Capitol Ave. But I'll leave it up to you as to whether it counts (it's the closest I have, but if it doesn't count, it doesn't count).

I see how this is a challenge, given that I avoid taking pictures while it's raining. :-D

I too prefer not to take pictures in the rain, but sometimes you're just in a place you don't plan to visit again, and you have to get whatever you can get at the moment.

Exactly hahaha  :-D Yeah it ought to be a challenge, but if you're 1500 miles away from home and this is your only chance to get the photo, what else are you going to do?   :hmmm:  Right there with both of you guys.

I haven't been more than 500 miles from home for a number of years so I kinda forgot that that might just be a good reason to take the picture.

Rain shorts can be iffy; you either give up a lot of detail, risk rain, seek shelter, or increase danger.

QuoteAugust 20, 2017:  Post a road photo you took in the pouring rain.

I didn't really try to take any photos during the heaviest of the rain, but my Fayette County run last month was a pretty wet one. I think this is probably the "wettest" photo that I kept, along GA 54 in Peachtree City:

This is why I'm glad my camera has a manual focus option. Set it on infinity and the auto focus won't zero in on the rain drops on your windshield.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

AsphaltPlanet

^ Do any cameras not have a manual focus option?

I generally prefer not to use manual focus as most lenses will focus past infinity for various reasons, and I'd worry about accidentally nudging the focus ring of the camera while not paying attention and ending up with dozens of out of focus shots.

For this case, a much better fix was to simply hold the camera a little bit closer to the windshield, below the minimum focusing distance of the lens, that way the camera isn't physically able to focus on the raindrops on the windshield.

I get a few like that, when using a wide focusing range.

Sometimes you can get a neat effect - I still haven't been able to replicate this shot with a DSLR, so it's one of my favorites:

QuoteAugust 21, 2017:  Post road photos taken during a solar eclipse.

My submission for this is going to be a bit tongue-in-cheek :), since I didn't end up going anywhere due to poor forecasts, but I did get a 95% eclipse here in Des Moines. So, I took a picture of my street during maximum obscuration:

Probably a bit difficult to tell from the picture, but it definitely got noticeably dimmer around the time of maximum obscuration. And yes, it was still noticeable even with the cloud over.

paulthemapguy

Just took this picture during my lunch break.  It was early on in the eclipse, so the sun just looks like it lost a little weight  :D

Here's the first photo I took after the total eclipse (about 10 minutes after the total eclipse in Nashville). All the speed limits in the Opry Mills area were 24 mph. You can see it looks a little dark out for about 1:40 in the afternoon!
