Question about HI 61 & 63

Hi, I was just wondering why HI 61 and HI 63, both predominately east-west highways, are signed 'North-South'?

Probably the same reason many essentially east-west roads in Appalachia are signed north-south: they're perpendicular to roads signed east-west.

Orientation to the beach of Honolulu as east-west.
