Will he go down as one of the best?

I think some here will hate the fact that he did probably kill off mercury, due to the duplication, also bringing over more world cars which some people dislike due to the failed Contour/Mondeo of the 1990s.

His thing was that why have two different platforms for a vehicle class, why have the Mazda 6 based Fusion and the Ford designed Mondeo. Just pick one and stick with it, and that is what Ford is doing. Same with the Focus, it started as a world car in 2000, but due to the fact that it was meant to be the entry level Ford it was kept on the 1998 platform instead of upgrading to the 2005 platform the European model went with, causing there to be two vehicles that are in the same class but with radically different platforms. The Ford Econoline, which has served nearly 40 years unchanged is being replaced by the taller Ford Transit, which can hold more inside of it due to the higher roof models being a factory option, and having a lower load floor to begin with, meaning a van that is the same height will actually have more space inside.

You cannot fault him for these, as Ford did not need to get the government bailout to survive, and has been making a profit since. He also was the one who brought the Taurus back after ford killed it off in 2006 after a short run of 2007 fleet only sedans in late 2006. He knew what he was doing.
