Found a map related to a prior study to realign a significant portion of Arizona State Highway 95 to the east of Bullhead City between Interstate 40 and Arizona State Highway 68. The 2011 Bullhead City Transportation Plan references this with a completion date of 2030. Does anyone have more information on this, including how it might be funded? I guess this project would at some point allow Arizona 95 travelers to have a more direct north-south link, especially since a portion currently detours (more or less) through Needles, California.

Here are the links:

Well that sure would solve the gap in AZ 95 by taking Needles out of the equation.  Bullhead is getting large enough that it might require a afreeway sooner rather than later.  I want to say Bullhead is the largest metro area in Mohave County, might as well buildi something before it gets too late to build a solid new route.

I know this has been talked about for years before even as a long term plan.  Nice to see that it's at least official.  Bullhead City is now the sixth largest population center in the state (behind Phx, Tucson, Prescott, Yuma and Flagstaff) and growing.

The other "major" project in town, the second bridge linking Laughlin, NV and Bullhead has finally been funded after years of delays and will be under construction in 2018.

Having driven between BHC and Lake Havasu City many times this is certainly needed, the Needles detour seems to be a big time waster.

I'm guessing this would be an ADOT funded project in some future budget when there are some additional funds.

I found an online resource about the second Laughlin bridge at http://www.rtcsnv.com/planning-engineering/rtc-projects/laughlin-bullhead-city-bridge/. The information appears somewhat dated. Is there anything more recent that discusses the second bridge?

Actually, it'll be the third bridge in the area.  There is one on Aztec Rd. that goes to the Avi Resort & Casino at the far southern tip of Nevada.  It connects to SR 95 in Fort Mohave AZ, directly south of Bullhead City.  It's a two-lane road and bridge, but it's in decent shape (I was just on it this past weekend), and does eventually connect to Needles Highway.

Most of the road and the bridge are on Fort Mohave Indian Reservation land, on both sides of the state line, but I don't know who maintains the road/bridge on either side.  It is not a marked highway at any level (state, county, or Indian Route).

yes, here's the most recent news article.- http://www.mohavedailynews.com/news/fall-eyed-for-start-of-bridge-work/article_e21b1cea-4117-11e7-9a55-c34a5a343436.html

Looks like late 2018 for the start of construction.  I have also read they have been in the process of hiring firms for this.

And yes, there is the "second" bridge already, but it's down in Fort Mohave,  south of Bullhead so this is technically their third bridge, but when there is an accident on the Laughlin Bridge that closes the road, it can take an extra 45 minutes to get down to the Fort Mohave bridge and back at least.

The SR 95/Bullhead Pkwy intersection is only a couple of miles north of the Aztec Rd. bridge.  Hopefully it'll be a 4-lane highway and bridge.  Bullhead Pkwy is also in dire need of rebuilding/resurfacing.  BTW, who's responsible for doing so?  It has mile markers along the route, but I don't know if they were posted by ADOT or Mohave County.

Driving down SR 95 through Bullhead City takes forever -- 45 minutes round trip sounds about right.  Taking Bullhead Pkwy would cut the time to 30 minutes or thereabouts -- longer distance, but many fewer lights.
