QuoteOn Sunday, officials said the bridge was just minutes from collapse during the fire.

Whew that's rough.  We had something similar happen in Columbus Oh last year.  It shut down the bridge for close to a month.

Estimated opening is now Sept 19th.

And, a quote from that article....
QuoteFay has an $80 million contract for replacing the deck, painting, installing new signs and rebuilding ramps to the bridge. The company is facing fines of $213,600 a day while the bridge is closed – $8,400 an hour for the unexpected closure of the bridge and $12,000 a day for the closure of the Boulevard of the Allies ramp.

Hope Fay has a good insurance policy.
I'm an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like "What is beauty?", because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems and call them "paychecks".

Liberty Bridge open again, but with a 9-ton limit on vehicles

Bridge has opened to vehicles currently 9-tons or less.  The weight limit is said to be temporary, but I haven't seen a timetable for the weight limit yet.
I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

The Liberty Bridge weight limit has been restored to 30 tons.

Contractor explains the repairs that closed the bridge for 24 days.

Basically, they decided on a more extensive repair than what was originally planned in order to avoid another closure when making permanent repairs later on.
