When the Netherlands are the only one of 9 bordering countries that have a problem with the ban then it is clearly not Germany's fault. Belgium for instance simply bans lorries to drive to Germany and France on Sundays. Effective legislation has always been better than whining and moaning.

My solution is that fines for trucks stopping before the border will be 10 times higher than driving into Germany. Enforcing that for about 3 months will result in truckers stopping just east of the border. Problem solved with the most effective legislation...

The truck ban is the most stupid rule in Germany. It isn't even a nationwide rule. There are days that truckers are allowed to drive into Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), while they may not enter North-Rhineland-Westfalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen)...  :ded: :crazy: :pan:

Please look at a map how often the German Autobahns A30 and A2 are crossing those internal German borders between the Dutch border and the city of Hannover...  :rolleyes:

That would probably be a pretty quick route to a minor diplomatic crisis, but perhaps it would get Merkel to rethink the policy, at least.
