The NHL has had a ridiculous number of teams in the postseason for many years, going back to the wrongly-named "Original Six" era when they played a 50- to 70-game regular season (the length crept upwards over time) to eliminate two teams, followed by two rounds of playoffs. The playoffs weren't really needed anyway when you played a multiple-round-robin balanced schedule, but they were themselves a holdover from the earliest years when the NHL wasn't the only league around and the different leagues' champions would play for the Stanley Cup.

Montreal had lost the series against the NY Rangers.

YESSSSSS!!! My Caps took care of the Maple Leafs. Next stop Pittsburgh!

Where's that Penguins fan who comes on this forum a lot? Just wanted to say good luck to you and let's have a great series.

Our neighbors didn't need to watch the game. The screaming from our house tells them who won.

I last shaved on Friday morning. Tough decision now whether to shave tomorrow or let it go.

And once again, the Pens draw the hated Capitals....  Guess we need to light them up and send them to the golf course early once again. ;)

DUCKS SWEEP! Yes, they put away the Flames in the first round. They had a spectacular year, winning the Pacific division title. I want them to go further, all the way to the Stanley Cup finals. In baseball, I'm keeping an eye on the Angels after a great start, but sliding down in the AL West. The Greater Los Angeles area sports market (L.A.-Anaheim) will have a good year for 2017 - the Rams returned and now the Chargers are here.

ICYMI: My Blackhawks were swept by the Predators...and they were the #1 seed! Oh well, at least the Bulls are still in the playoffs, the Bears should have a decent draft, and the Cubs are the defending World Champions, so anything can happen in Chicago sports.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

It could be cool if the Caps goes to the Finals like they did in 1998 when they was the Cinderella team who lost against Detroit and the St. Louis Blues as well to get a Stanley cup final of teams who wants to grab their 1st Stanley Cup championship. Last time it happened was in 2007 between Anaheim and the Ottawa Senators.

The Nashville Predators beat the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference final and will go against the winner of the Eastern Conference final (Pittsburg Penguins or Ottawa Senators).

If it's Nashville/Ottawa, there's 3 things in play:

1. NBC execs will be pulling their hair out
2. Guaranteed first time winning franchise (would be the first in 90 years for the city of Ottawa)
3. Chance for the first Canadian winner since 1993.

If the Predators will win, some folks at the board of the Mtl Canadiens might regret to had traded P.K. Subban to Nashville.

Speaking of P.K. Subban, I spotted this Hitler parody clip posted last year just after his trade.

It won't be long before we saw a Hitler Downfall parody clip about the 2017 Stanley cup final. Meanwhile let's see how the Fuhrer reacted when the San Jose Sharks lost the 2016 Finals to the Penguins. ;)
