Saw this in that SCOH report: "Also presented at the USRN meeting was the affirmative decision made by FHWA on July 22, 2015, regarding Tennessee's establishment of State Route 840 as Interstate 840 (I-840) from I-40 east of Nashville (Exit #176) to I-40 west of Nashville (Exit #235).  AASHTO approved the route, since there is no objection by FHWA"

So does that mean they're gonna start changing out shields anytime soon?  I thought there was crap about TN messing up the paperwork for 840 in the spring and AASHTO asking them to resubmit.  Does that still need to happen or can the change now happen?

I think they can start signing it anytime they want to now if I understood it correctly . Don't know when they would start though.

Proposed. The May documents are still there on that page and will be archived when September's get put up.
If they (PennDOT) proposing to do that, why don't they just go all the way and designate/sign State Road (& Oakland Ave.) through Doylestown (between PA 611 and the older US 202 Freeway northern terminus) as Business US 202 as well?  Such was US 202 prior to the Freeway/Bypass.

Dunno if the Business 202 was actually approved or not but Google sure thinks so. It even includes your revision to include the Doylestown alignment down State Road.

Google may have jumped the gun a tad.

I emailed TDOT about when they would start signing SR840 as I-840. Here is their reply:

QuoteThank you for contacting the Tennessee Department of Transportation with your inquiry about the changing of State Route 840 to Interstate 840 and the sign changes taking place.   The project to change the signs will start at the beginning of 2016. As soon as the schedule is received by the Regional Traffic office, our crews will begin replacing these signs.

The new I-840 signs on the BGS are less visible than the previous SR 840 signs.  What a waste of my tax money.
