Wow, I just LOVE how Google Street View lapses into Google Earth without me telling it to!

I just love how it freezes up my browser and slows down everything else on my computer.

As far as I can tell, this has only started within the past couple weeks.
Might as well face it, pooing is cool

Need more information. What do you mean by "lapse"?
I'm guessing he's zooming out in street view and then gets suddenly forced into Google Earth, since using the mouse wheel to zoom out when you already are causes you to get put in Earth view, rotated in the direction you were looking.  Unlike zooming in to street view, there is little indication as to what will happen, so if you're just zooming out, it's VERY easy to do accidentally.

That's what I initially thought, but he indicates that it "only started within the past couple weeks". That feature (annoying or not) has been in GMaps since its redesign (as far as I can recall).

I'll try to return to the map or aerial photo, and it goes to Google Earth instead.

oooooohh I see. Sorry, I misunderstood your first post.

This occurs on my end too. The problem is that I use the back button 99.9% of the time; the back button currently puts you back in maps mode (not 3D mode like it would "scrolling out").

It does seem odd that the back button would put you back in maps mode, yet scrolling out throws you into 3D mode. I suspect it might be a bug, but I know Google has really been pushing their 3D satellite imagery a lot lately (evidenced by the new online-only Earth). Perhaps this "new feature" was a way of getting people to use the 3D mode more....?

Two years after I posted this, it still hasn't been fixed.

Sometimes it's so bad I have to do a dirty restart.
