QuoteSeptember 7th: Post something unusual for the area it's in.

This bridge over NY 104 east of Rochester is one of a few in the area that are blue.  Here's another one that used to be on Rochester's Inner Loop from vdeane's site.  Most NYSDOT bridges are either green or brown.

As far as I can remember, This is the only thrie beam guardrail I've seen in NY outside of retrofits on bridges.  I first saw it as a kid back in the mid to late 1990s, and I assumed it was to keep falling rocks out of the road.

While playing GeoGuessr a few months ago, I came across box-beam guardrail in Montana, which is only common in NY and WY.  I found some in PA while playing GeoGuessr a long time ago, but I could never find it again.

This is a good challenge, because I have no idea why anyone would bother to purposefully take pictures of one. :)

Incidentally, I managed to find not one but three of them in the background of a picture of I-80 WB in Iowa.

I have a few photos of them because I find them funny. It certainly doesn't make a town look good when there's no gas stations, restaurants, or attractions! :-D

This was taken on Highway 7/8 in Kitchener (eastbound) last summer. The ground-mounted sign is the original, with the overhead sign being the replacement.

NH 111 west at I-93 by <name removed>, on Flickr

The numbers on this sign are 93 and 111. Using digits, 9+3+1+1+1 = 15.
As today is 9/11, the 93 in the photo is for Flight 93.
