Highway 427 Extension

I've seen some longterm plans/proposals to extend Hwy 427 to Barrie, creating two north-south freeways between Barrie and Toronto; and by extension ultimatly two expressway/freeway corridors to Toronto from Hwy 17 via Hwy 400 from Sudbury (when complete) and Hwy 11/427 from North Bay.  I understand that Hwy 400 is quite congested and almost at peak capacity.

Does anyone know if there is a timeframe on this?  Or does the 427 extension more of a pipe dream than reality?

AsphaltPlanet

It's a pipe dream. Plans are to extend the 427 only as far as Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan.

Yes. Just a pipe dream. Ontario will stick too it's "all eggs in one basket" highway planning mentality after all.
