Montana state secondary route 307

does anyone know the history of this route?  what it was numbered previously; when it entered the system, etc.

the googles are no help: the first hit is the Wikipedia page for MT-78, which inexplicably states "Before receiving its present designation, Highway 81 was designated as Montana Secondary Highway 307."

I do not know for sure, but I'd check along I-90 between Butte and Billings, or US-212 effectively parallel to that.

a friend of mine who lives and works in that area asked me offhand about 307.

Well, 306 and 308 are there, as well as MT 78. So I'd say Wikipedia is correct and it no longer exists.

I am told Columbus, MT.  I did not see it on Google Maps.  Joliet Rd (going to the town of Joliet) is shown as both county and state route 421; could that be a renumbering of 307?  it is the only principal route there that is likely to have a state number.

also, I note that Google Maps has US-10 signed on the business loop in Columbus.  I can tell you that Columbus doesn't have US-10 signed on the business loop in Columbus, unless something awesome happened since Dec '07.

he says Columbus to Park City.  so, a US-10 alignment.

but, that PDF says "it became 78".  which jives with Wikipedia saying "it became 81", modulo one typo.

I also noticed US 10 also signed alongside I-90 in Laurel, MT, in June.

The 1961 Rand McN conveniently stashed in my desk at work shows 307 using the route of today's MT 78.

The 1956 Rand McN doesn't show any of the Montana Secondary routings

Does  anybody know  anything  about  Montana's  only  toll bridge?  On  a 1955 Rand Mc.  map  it shows a toll bridge  over the  Missouri  River  in the exterme corner of Montana  near Fort Union.
