If I'm in the area soon I can check on Jersey County/255.

Thanks
Here is an update of the North Part it is 2 lanes and there is no money for it either

I will be going to the hearing and will update. I know its farther North but I thought it made sense to keep 67 on one thread
It looks like it will be a lot like 127 north of Pickneyville ...which someone at IDOT told me looks like 4 lanes....in width.
I think he was hinting we are done at Pickneyville unless you want to repave the shoulders and repaint the lines like Texas does

Google Earth now has satellite images for the St. Louis metro dated 9/1/2011, while Google maps has yet to be updated.  From the Google Earth satellite photos, mainline asphalt on IL 255 appears to be mostly complete between Seminary Road and Humbert Road, while the bridge over the UP and KCS Railroad lines just west of Humbert Road only appears to have the piers up.  Grading for IL 255 west of Humbert and a few miles of US 67 appears to be well underway.

I was through there in August and saw construction start about a mile or two north of the Madison/Jersey Line down to Godfrey.  Pictures are up on my IL 255 page.

Really great site . You got the Quadplex in Monmouth The 110 directional signs are all up in Macomb,Galesburg and Quad City no.
I am sure the Alton Contingent of Corridir 67 will keep trying to make IL 255 into I-255

I was out in Galesburg in late September, and QC this month...I have some pics of the arrows when 110 changes paths, but wasnt the focus of those trips.  I hope to get back that way after the first of the year or early spring.

Mine subsidence was mentioned as a problem in some of the  old documents for Carbondale to St Louis . I think that is one reason its now widening IL 127. I am suprised it did not come up around Canton on IL 336. It will if that is what is causing the IL 255 problem. We do have very soft soil in Illinois and that is great fopr farming and not great for road endurance. The 4 lane section of US 67 in Rock Island on the hard ground went 50 years between repavings compared to 20 in the rest of the state.

Speaking of US 67 north I went to the meeting in Monmouth. 14 million will correct all the deficiencies of US 67 in Warren county. It would have 3 foot paved and 5 foot gravel shoulders. I was told it is an asphalt cost that Illinois does not have 8 foot paved shoulders.......but someone who knows engineering suggested I submit a commnet requesting fully paved shoulders. They help the rest of the road and would create 40 feet of pavement.

If anyone wants to submit comments they must be in writing and in in 10 days and they will be included in the official record. Just include your name and address and send them to

The Alton Telegraph now reports that the opening of the next section of 255 could be delayed up to a year due to the sub-base failure.

Indiana has been getting all the attention of new road openings but broke old Illinois got some open................The rest as noted in Nov

If you check Google Traffic you can see a green line of traffic and no road

Now, how long will it take them to get the 4-laning of 67 finished?

3467

That is a good question. Here is where it stands as I best understand
South of Jerseyville is either under construction or funded. There is some contruction work done on the bypass. I think most of the land is bought on that segment.
I have a lot of pic thanks to wife of the construction north of Jacksonvile. It will be done soon .
From Meridosia to Beardstown most of the land is banked. Most engineering is done.
North of Monmouth the final reconstruction is partly funded. 2 lanes w 8 foot shoulders.

The rest depends on future capital buget funding and that may take a while. IL sepaprates its budgets The Capital is fully funded but it makes the rest look even worse. Though Quinnblames pensions its only because the state didnt pay in for several years and has to double up. Its really health care whne Blago massivly expanded medicade and didnt pay for it

Also downstate/suburb /city tensions are worse than teh 80s because each have such different priorities for how to spend limited money...which is a loong winded explanation of I have NO idea. BUT dont move it to fictional highways yet!

The original project (EIS,1986) is done it was to have ended at a signalized intersection here. Had IDOT not been proded this would have ended major work on US 67 as well
Google Maps and Traffic have updated

Revive 755

Managed to drive IL 255 and US 67 up to Jerseyville.  Few comments/observations:

* IL 255 is open to the IL 111/IL 267 interchange.

* IL 267 is not signed at IL 255.  IL 267 was signed at the intersection with IL 16.

* The signs for the final section of IL 255 between IL 267 and US 67 are up.  At the exit for IL 267 there is a pull through with arrows for US 67 with the control city being Jacksonville.  There was also a US 67 shield after the exit to IL 267, but it appeared the entrance ramps signs for NB were marked for IL 255.

* The control city for the SB IL 255 entrance from IL 267 uses the usual text 'To I-270' or something similar as a control city.

* NB US 67 traffic was shifted onto the future flyover over the IL 255 mainlanes.

* Between Dehli and the end of IL 255, US 67 was head to head on the future northbound lanes.  The southbound lanes appear that they could be finished by June.  The northbound lanes appear to be missing a layer of surface course.

The Google Earth car has transited the new 4 lane US 67 - Delhi Bypass 3 weeks ago and is online for viewing.

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.0380218,-90.2598858,3815m/data=!3m1!1e3!5m1!1e1?

It appears they about 3 or 4 weeks from completion, with just the section on the north end needing 1 last pour, signage and striping.

Traffic is still 2 way on the newer northbound part, but the left turn lanes are all in place and 98% of the new southbound lanes are done.

Old US-67 is closed north of Delhi Road.

I was going to ask why the bypass was being built in the first place, but then I realized that it could most likely be due to the higher amount of traffic and safety. This on top of the upcoming industrial park nearby.

Correct. Jerseyville and the Kansas City Southern RR have a JV for an industrial/logistics park south of town. So they have been pushing to get US-67 4 laned up to there.

3467

There was an earmark in an early version of infrastructure for 67 up to Jerseyville.
There was a 67 group out of Jerseyville and Jacksonville chamber. I have not heard anything from them in the last year. Perhaps you could check with them.

Plans for US 67 from IL 255 to around Dehli:
http://eplan.dot.il.gov/desenv/061110/76311-017/PLANS/

Couple comments:
* (Sheet 162)  Looks like IL 267 is being truncated back to the IL 111 intersection near Medora.

* (Sheets 166 and 167) The signage for the IL 255 - US 67 interchange is poorly done IMHO.  There really should be some overheads or at least a diagram indicating that US 67 exits while the road straight becomes IL 255.

Plans for the last section of IL 255:
http://eplan.dot.il.gov/desenv/030510/76323-129/PLANS/

As of last month 267 was still co-signed with 111 for the entire length of from Godfrey to Medora.

Weren't they going to build a freeway bypass around Jerseyville? What happened to that?

3467

They were but now there is 25 million for a through town expansion.
Also IDOT  found a way to avoid most of the flood plain on US34.
You can read about it on featured projects. They have been raising costs to insane levels.
67' between Macomb and Jacksonville has a a lot of unavoidable flood plain.
I wonder if that's been a problem.

Yes, they were. IDOT has taken down all of the engineering plans for it it appears.

Oates Engineering did the work and they took it down too, so obviously someone has changed their mind.

I honestly don't think any further upgrades are needed between Macomb and Jacksonville, nor between Manchester and Jerseyville. At this point, I'd simply four lane the Macomb bypass and tie it directly into US 67, then call it a day on US 67/IL-336 upgrades in Western Illinois.

I tend to agree.

Finish 4 lane US-67 to Jerseyville for the logistics park.

Finish 4 lane CKC update of Macomb Bypass from Super 2.

I think some of the dough got pushed over to the West Springfield freeway work.

With most of the CKC (IL-110) work done for now, I think Western Illinois has gotten a pretty good chunk of highway dollars the past 30 years and needs to reassess their traffic patterns.

It's the bridges on the Illinois River that sorely need work. There is one still sharing a draw bridge with BNSF railroad. A railroad employee operates the tollbooth!
