http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/nhs/maps/ky/ky_kentucky.pdf shows some proposed roads on the NHS in eastern Kentucky (they can also be seen on http://hepgis.fhwa.dot.gov/hepgis_v2/Highway/Map.aspx).
Does anyone know more about these? Are they still planned for improvements?
*KY 931 from KY 160 to KY 7
*KY 1499-194 from US 460 to Thomas
*KY 1441 from US 460 to US 119
*KY 194 (roughly) from KY 1499 to Virginia

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

Maybe parts of those roads are gaps of the Appalachian regional corridors.

This is from 2003 - I did a double take when I saw the former route numbers for the AA Highway listed! KY 546/694 is now KY 9/10. And when did US 152 in Kentucky exist?

never.  US-152 was in Indiana, 1934-1938.  Hammond to Indianapolis.

These are most likely busy coal-haul roads.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

There are some coal haul roads listed as intermodal connectors. See the end of http://transportation.ky.gov/planning/maps/NHS/NHS_list.pdf or the light green routes on http://transportation.ky.gov/planning/maps/NHS/NHS_statewide.pdf . Do you know if these coal tipples are for transferring coal from elsewhere to rail, or single-company tipples for loading trucks (and hence a misuse of the term 'intermodal')?
