version 1.19 is now up!

I added five new fonts, and two new shield layouts, all from Maryland.  Two widths of 1946 custom block font, and three widths of 1961 custom round font.

that's a 1961-spec US shield.  I also added a 1953-spec (black square with block font number).  Next I'll add some state route markers, but it may be next week since I'll be out of town this weekend.

Enjoy!

Hey Jake, I'm just curious if we might ever see a Button Copy Interstate Shield?

goodness, I haven't updated the shield generator in forever!

that would definitely be an interesting set to add.  I'd just need to make the button borders, and also the Series D button digits.  A lot of states used those on various shields, so it would be a good addition in general.

can you absolutely confirm that '71 is when Mich stopped using the cutouts (state and Michigan/US markers)?  I have suspected that that is the year but do not have an empirical source for that info.

also, do you happen to know when they switched from Michigan/US to number-only cutouts for freeway use?  My guess is 1969 but that may or may not be 100% correct.

attractive as hell shield - I was lucky to pick up a 23 just like that one for a friend who grew up next to the 23 and watched the freeway get built!

According to Chris Bessert, yes: http://www.michiganhighways.org/route_markers.html

If it helps, Arkansas quit using cutouts in 1971, per MUTCD regulations.

I've sent you info off-list .

version 1.20 released.

we now have the 1975 style of Nebraska route marker.  Aside from very minor variations (outer white margin), this is the style that is in use today.

Are there any plans to add more state route shields as well as the Clearview fonts? Seems there are only a few states right now, and I can provide the Clearview fonts if necessary.

And I have no idea if this is possible or not, but one thing I think could be really useful would be dragging support. Right now, if I want to optically center something (as opposed to a perfect centering, which sometimes makes numbers look awkward), I have to click a bunch of times. It would be neat if I could just grab the number and move it anywhere. Even better if it could "snap" into place, like it was on a gridline. Might be impossible for a Flash program, but would be awesome if possible.

As an administrator of the forum rickmastfan67 is well within his rights to ask that you observe common forum courtesy by reading older pages of threads, rather than simply blurting out questions that have easily-obtained answers. It is not rudeness on his part.

To be fair, that's not a downloadable copy of the program. I doubt he'd know what to do with a local copy though.
