Hillsborough County maintains three sections of County Road 579, though none are well signed. The southernmost portion spurs 4.973 miles south from State Road 674 to the Manatee County line through rural areas. The middle section travels due north from SR 574 at Mango 6.018 miles to Thonotosassa and U.S. 301. The northern component follows Morris Bridge Road 9.746 miles northeast from I-75 and CR 582A (Fletcher Avenue) to the county line, extending northward another 14.17 miles through Pasco County en route to Zephyrhills and Dade City.
Pasco County Road 579 initially follows Morris Bridge Road north 3.515 miles to SR 54, west of Zephryhills. Combining with CR 54 along the western leg of Eiland Boulevard, CR 579 continues north 1.850 miles to Handcart Road. Handcart Road branches north from Eiland Boulevard, taking CR 579 another 4.472 miles to a T-intersection with CR 579A (Prospect Road).
Prospect Road extends CR 579 due east then north 2.251 miles to SR 52 along the east side of the St. Leo town limits. Happy Hill Road takes over from there, representing the northern 2.084 mile leg of CR 579 to CR 578 (St. Joe Road), west of Dade City.
