Interstate 4 East
The first confirming marker for Interstate 4 east appears along the ramp departing from I-275 north at the Downtown Interchange. 06/11/20
The flyovers from I-275 converge between SR 45 (Nebraska Avenue) and the split diamond interchange (Exit 1) with the oneway couplet of 21st and 22nd Streets (former SR 585) at Ybor City. 06/11/20
A low speed flyover (Exit 45B) links I-275 south with I-4 east. The ramp forms an auxiliary lane to Exit 1 for Ybor City. Sign changes made after the Selmon Connector opened in 2014 removed SR 585 and added a reference for the cruise terminal at Channelside. 05/27/20
The Downtown Tampa skyline spreads into view south of the flyover joining I-275 southbound with I-4 east. 03/26/20
Left Exit 2 joins I-4 east with the Selmon Connector south to SR 618 (LeRoy Selmon Expressway) and Port Tampa Bay. The toll facility opened on January 6, 2014. 06/11/20
Prior to 2015, 22nd Street north and 21st Street south through Ybor City were a part of SR 585. Following the completion of the Selmon Connector, SR 585 was turned over to the city of Tampa. 05/27/20
I-4 passes over the couplet of Avenida Republica De Cuba and 15th Street ahead of Exit 1. 21st Street south lines the east side of Ybor City to U.S. 41 Business and SR 60 (Adamo Drive). 22nd Street north leads into the College Hill and Seminole Heights neighborhoods. 05/27/20
The ramp from Exit 1 combines with E 13th Avenue ahead of 21st Street south. Ybor City is a historic district and neighborhood in east Tampa. Centered around 7th Avenue (CR 574), the community was once the "Cigar Capital of the World." Ybor City is a center of night lift with an array of restaurants, bars and the Ybor Centro retail complex. 07/06/13
A flyover links the Selmon Connector with U.S. 41 Business and S 20th Street for Port Tampa Bay. The Connector uses all electronic tolling (AET). 10/01/22
The Selmon Connector links I-4 east with SR 618 (Leroy Selmon Expressway) east to Brandon and I-4 west with SR 618 west to Downtown Tampa. 08/25/18
Ramps for the Selmon Connector tie into the inside lanes of Interstate 4. This may change in the future to outside ramps if Express Lanes are built for I-4. Stubs were built previously along the outside lanes for potential ramps. 05/27/20
Interstate 4 passes over a CSX Railroad line through the directional T interchange (Exit 2) with the Selmon Connector. 10/01/22
A split diamond interchange (Left Exit 3) joins Interstate 4 east with Columbus Drive to Orient Park and U.S. 41 (50th Street) to Grant Park and Palm River. 08/25/18
North from Exit 3, U.S. 41 shifts westward along Melburne Boulevard to N 40th Street. N 40th Street extends beyond U.S. 41 at Hillsborough Avenue (U.S. 92) to SR 580 (Busch Boulevard) at McKinley Drive (CR 585A) by the Busch Gardens theme park. 10/01/22
U.S. 41 (N 50th Street) travels north from Palm River and industrial southeast Tampa to meet Interstate 4 at Columbus Drive. Columbus Drive constitutes an urban arterial paralleling I-4 east from Ybor City to Broadway (CR 574). 10/01/22
Interstate 4 spans SR 569 (N 40th Street) beyond this eastbound confirming marker. 10/01/22
Due to limited space during mid 2000s expansion of I-4, a left exit was retained to Columbus Drive. Columbus Drive was also realigned southward onto an S-curve to 50th Street, with a service road added from Exit 3 east to U.S. 41.1 10/01/22
Exit 3 initially intersects Columbus Drive, which leads west back to SR 569 (40th Street). A diamond interchange (Exit 2) previously joined I-4 with SR 569 directly. The exchange closed in 2005 during freeway widening. 04/27/15
The ramp at Exit 3 proceeds east from Columbus Drive to U.S. 41 (50th Street). SR 583 extends 50th Street north from U.S. 41 nearby to Grant Park at 56th Street en route to Temple Terrace. 01/18/14
Interstate 4 continues northeast to meet SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) at Exit 5. SR 574 is an arterial passing through the nearby neighborhoods of Grant Park and Orient Park. 10/01/22
A diamond interchange joins I-4 with SR 574 at Exit 5. SR 574 follows MLK Boulevard east from U.S. 92 (Dale Mabry Highway) in Tampa to Plant City. 10/01/22
Interstate 4 vacates the Tampa city limits east of U.S. 41 (N 50th Street). This marks the end of the section expanded to six lanes in 2006. 05/27/20
SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) continues east from Exit 5 to U.S. 301 near the Florida State Fairgrounds and Interstate 75 at Mango. 10/01/22
State Road 574 measures 23.04 miles in length from U.S. 92 by Raymond James Stadium east to Seffner, Dover and U.S. 92 (Thonotosassa Road) west of Downtown Plant City. 01/19/14
A half diamond interchange joins Interstate 4 with Orient Road at Exit 6. Orient Road stems north from SR 60 (Adamo Drive) to Sligh Avenue. This sign was installed in May 2020. 05/27/20
Orient Road heads 1.5 miles north from Exit 6 to U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) nearby and Sligh Avenue outside of Temple Terrace. South from I-4, Orient Road serves Orient Park and industrial areas in southeast Tampa. 10/01/22
U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) converges with Interstate 4 at a wye interchange (Exit 7) by the Florida State Fairgrounds. 10/01/22
Exit 7 ties into a collector distributor roadway system leading U.S. 92 east through the adjacent cloverleaf interchange with U.S. 301. 10/01/22
U.S. 301 runs north from the Florida State Fairgrounds to eastern reaches of Temple Terrace near Tampa Executive Airport (VDF) en route to Zephyrhills in Pasco County. 06/11/20
South from I-4/U.S. 92, U.S. 301 leads to South Tampa and western Brandon. U.S. 301 parallels Interstate 75 to Riverview, Sun City Center, and Palmetto. 06/11/20
I-4 advances east from the exchanges with U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) and U.S. 301 to the turbine interchange (Exit 9) with Interstate 75. I-75 services the eastern Tampa suburbs from New Tampa southward to Temple Terrace, Brandon, Riverview, Gibsonton and Ruskin. 05/30/20
U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) joins the c/d roadway at Exit 7 east ahead of ramps for U.S. 301. 07/26/20
U.S. 301 continues northeast from Temple Terrace to Hillsborough River State Park, Zephyrhills and Dade City in eastern Pasco County. 06/11/20
Beyond the c/d roadway along I-4, U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) continues toward Mango and Plant City. 06/11/20
Originating in Sarasota, U.S. 301 travels 274 miles in Florida north to Hilliard and 1,110 miles overall to Biddles Corner, Delaware. 07/26/20
U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) parallels Interstate 4 to the south through Seffner, Dover and Plant City. 08/18/18
I-75 is the main route to Georgia and points north from the Florida's Suncoast. Ocala lies north of where I-75 merges with Florida's Turnpike at Wildwood. Naples is where I-75 turns eastward onto Alligator Alley toward Fort Lauderdale and Miami. 10/01/22
U.S. 92 resumes along Hillsborough Avenue east from a second wye interchange with Interstate 4 over the Tampa Bypass Canal. 08/17/18
Interstate 4 diverges from U.S. 92 (Hillsborough Avenue) to the north of Mango. This confirming marker was knocked down by 2017 and never replaced. 01/18/14
I-4 advances with four eastbound lanes a half mile to Exit 9. Interstate 75 heads four miles south to Brandon and 150 miles to Naples. 10/01/22
Brandon is a large unincorporated community spreading east of I-75 along SR 60. Temple Terrace is a city to the northwest along the Hillsborough River. 10/01/22
A single lane ramp connects I-4 east with Interstate 75 at Exit 9. An exchange similar to the one linking I-4/75 is at I-85/485 in northeast Charlotte, North Carolina. 10/01/22
Exit 9 partitions for a collector roadway along I-75 north, four miles from Exit 265 to SR 582 and Temple Terrace. Ocala lies another 85 miles north of there. 08/21/18
