Interstate 5 enters Snohomish County 23 miles north of the county seat and 50 miles out from Seattle. 08/30/06
The first Snohomish County interchange joins Interstate 5 with 300th Street NW at Exit 215. 08/30/06
300th Street NW ventures east from Pioneer Highway (old SR 530) to meet Interstate 5 at a diamond interchange (Exit 215). Old U.S. 99 ties into the rural highway nearby. Eastward, 300th Street ends at a rural residential area. 08/30/06
SR 532 begins at the Exit 212 diamond interchange with 268th Street NW. The 10.09 mile route spurs west from Interstate 5 to Camano Island of Island County. 08/30/06
Southbound Interstate 5 at the Exit 212 off-ramp to SR 532. SR 532 travels five miles to the city of Stanwood. 268th Street NW meanwhile ventures east from Exit 212 to Bryant and SR 9. 08/30/06
Descending along the Exit 212 ramp to SR 532. SR 532 ends at Terrys Corner on Camano Island at the split of North Camano and East Camano Drive. The local roads venture to Utsalady and Camano State Park respectively. 08/30/06

Interstate 5 spans Pilchuck Creek ahead of the Exit 210 ramp departure to 236th Street NE. The rural east-west road links the freeway with Pioneer Highway (old SR 530) north of Silvana. Eastward, 236th Street NE ends at 35th Ave NE amid a scattering of homes and forest stands. 08/30/06
What is left of SR 530 begins at Exit 208 of Interstate 5 on The Island, the area between the Stillaguamish River and Portage Creek west of Arlington and east of Silvana. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 crosses the Stillaguamish River one half mile north of Exit 208. A steel through truss bridge, opened in 1933 for U.S. 99, carries southbound drivers. Northbound motorists utilize a nondescript bridge built in 1971. 08/30/06
SR 530 constitutes a 50.52 mile route from the Exit 208 diamond interchange east through Arlington to Darrington and Rockport (SR 20). Pioneer Highway (former SR 530) stems west to Silvana and East Stanwood. The stretch of state route west of Interstate 5 was decommissioned in 1991.1 08/30/06
A third set of Interstate 5 rest areas lie along both sides of freeway along the Arlington city line. 08/30/06
SR 531 joins Interstate 5 with Lakewood to the west and Smokey Point and Arlington Municipal Airport (AWO) to the east from the next interchange (Exit 206). The airport is home to the WSDOT Aviation Division. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 meets SR 531 (172nd Street NE) between suburban and retail areas at Smokey Point. The 9.88 mile route stems west from SR 9 through Arlington to end at Wenberg State Park. 08/30/06
Approaching the city of Marysville, Interstate 5 next meets 116th Street NE at the Exit 202 diamond interchange. 08/30/06
116th Street joins Interstate 5 with 27th Avenue NE and the Tulalip Indian Reservation to the west and old U.S. 99 (Smokey Point Boulevard) at Kruse to the east. Development in the form of the Tulalip Resort Casino, the Seattle Premium Outlets, and additional big box retail line Quil Ceda Boulevard along the southbound side of Interstate 5. 08/30/06
Quil Cela Way joins Interstate 5 south as a parallel frontage road to the 88th Street NE diamond interchange of Exit 200. 88th Street NE leads east to State Avenue (former U.S. 99) and 67th Avenue NE in Marysville. 08/30/06
Exit 200 departs Interstate 5 south for 88th Street NE and Quil Cela Way. 08/30/06
Marine Drive NE and 4th Street (SR 528) come together at the Exit 199 diamond interchange near the Marysville city center. SR 528 begins at Exit 199 and travels 3.46 miles east to SR 9 via 64th Street NE. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 enters the Everett area south Ebey Slough beyond Exit 199. Exit 199 meanwhile departs for SR 528 (4th Street) east and Marine Drive NE west Marine Drive NE west to Priest Point Grange and Tulalip along Possession Sound. Exit 198 follows in one mile for the southbound SR 528 (Broadway). 08/30/06
Exit 198 is the first of four interchanges to serve the city of Everett. SR 529 follows the old U.S. 99 alignment southwest across Smith Island to Marine View Drive at Broadway. Marine View Drive winds westward to the Port of Everett as SR 529 continues south to the city center. 08/30/06
Southbound drivers span Ebbey Slough and enter a wye interchange with SR 529 south. The state route begins at the intersection of State Avenue (former U.S. 99) and SR 528 (4th Street) in Marysville and leads south 7.88 miles through Everett. Interests to Everett Community College are directed to use Exit 198. 08/30/06
Looking west from the crossing over Steamboat Slough of Interstate 5. Visible are truss bridges for SR 529 north and south and the adjacent BNSF Railroad. The road bridges opened in 1927 and 1954 respectively. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 continues through swampy areas of north Everett to a crossing of Union Slough. 08/30/06
U.S. 2 begins in Everett and travels east from near the city center and Exit 194 to Snohomish, Monroe and Wenatchee (U.S. 97). The 2,119 mile route joins the Pacific Northwest with the northern Great Plains and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. U.S. 2 ends in St. Ignace, Michigan at Interstate 75. 08/30/06

Freeway expansion work was evident along Interstate 5 south through central Everett. A half diamond interchange (Exit 195) adds an auxiliary lane from Grand Avenue south to Exit 194 for U.S. 2 east and Everett Avenue west to SR 529. 08/30/06
Exit 194 partitions into separate ramps for the eastbound beginning of U.S. 2 and Everett Avenue west to downtown Everett. U.S. 2 begins formally at the intersection of Hewitt Avenue and Maple Street (SR 529); a directional ramp provides access to the causeway across Ebey Island. U.S. 2 heads seven miles southeast to Snohomish along an alignment varying between freeway and expressway. Further east, the US route continues across Stevens Pass to Wenatchee. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 angles southwest from U.S. 2 and the Exit 193 half diamond interchange with Pacific Avenue along a freeway varying between an elevated roadway or viaduct to Exit 192 (41st Street). 08/30/06
Construction associated with the freeway expansion project of the mid to late 2000s altered Exit 192 into a single point urban interchange (SPUI). 41st Street comprises a short arterial west to Rucker Avenue (historic U.S. 99). Rucker Avenue becomes Evergreen Way two and half blocks south of 41st Street. 08/30/06
A new flyover ramp was added to carry motorists from Interstate 5 north onto Broadway (historic U.S. 99) during 2006 construction. Broadway passes under 41st Street nearby. 08/30/06
Local terrain sees Interstate 5 south travel at an elevation above the northbound roadway through south Everett. Lynwood and Edmonds are the next Snohomish County cities of significance for Interstate 5. Seattle is only 26 miles southward. 08/30/06
SR 526, the Boeing Freeway, connects Interstate 5 (Exit 189) with Paine Field / Snohomish County Airport (PAE) and the Boeing Company operations in southwest Everett. 08/30/06
Exit 189 joins Interstate 5 south with SR 526 west and SR 99 (Broadway) to SR 527 (19th Avenue SE) via a collector distributor roadway. SR 99 follows old U.S. 99 south from Everett to Lynwood, Edmonds, Shoreline and Seattle on its 49.13 mile route. 08/30/06
Nearing the SR 526 westbound off-ramp of Interstate 5 south. SR 526 (Boeing Freeway) connects I-5 with Mukilteo and SR 525 to the Whidbey Island Ferry. The state route totals 4.52 miles between Exit 189 and Nelsons Corner. 08/30/06
SR 526 begins formally at the intersection with SR 99 (Broadway) and SR 527 (19th Avenue SE) adjacent to Exit 189. SR 527 begins there as well and leads south 11.92 miles to Mill Creek and Bothell. 08/30/06
The Exit 189 c/d roadway splits into ramps for Boeing Freeway west and SR 99 (Broadway) near Everitt Mall. Broadway becomes Everett Mall Way southwest to Evergreen Way. 08/30/06
Flyover ramps join SR 526 east with Interstate 5 north and Interstate 5 north with the Boeing Freeway west. 08/30/06
Attached to the SR 527 overpass is an overhead for the Broadway off-ramp of Exit 189. SR 99 intersects SR 526 west and 527 south just north of the ramp from Interstate 5. 08/30/06
Interstate 5 continues away from the Exit 189 complex to the fourth southbound rest area that doubles as a commercial truck weigh station. 08/30/06
Motorists bound for the rest area facility must contend with commercial trucks in the weigh station queue. 08/30/06
One half mile north of the Exit 186 diamond interchange with SR 96 (128th Street SE) near Murphys Corner. 08/30/06
Exit 186 leaves Interstate 5 south for SR 96 east and 128th Street SW west to Airport Road and SR 99 (Evergreen Way). SR 96 travels just 6.75 miles along the Mill Creek city line to SR 9 south of Snohomish. 08/30/06
Interstate 405 appears for the first time at the one mile sign bridge for 164th Street SW (Exit 183). 164th Street provides a second route into Mill Creek from Interstate 5 to the east. The east-west road continues west to SR 99 on the outskirts of Lynnwood. 08/30/06
An HOV on-ramp joins Interstate 5 south from a park and ride facility on Ash Way north of 164th Street SW and Exit 183. Historically, 164th Street SW was once a part of SR 525, from 35th Avenue W east to Interstate 5, before the state route shifted to its freeway. SR 525 now leads south from SR 99 as a freeway directly to Interstate 405 at Exit 182. There is no access from Interstate 5 south to SR 525 north however. 08/30/06
What was originally a tri-level stack interchange with Interstate 405 south only was expanded in 1985 to include partial access to SR 525's new freeway alignment north to Mukilteo. Exit 182 consists of a two lane directional ramp onto Interstate 405 for Bothell, Bellevue, and Renton. 08/30/06
Interstate 405 is a heavily traveled suburban to urban route encircling the Lake Washington area east of Seattle. The route is not necessarily a better through route due to its role as commuter route. Traveling 30.30 miles, Interstate 405 ends like it begins, as a state route freeway (SR 518) at Exit 154 of Interstate 5. 08/30/06

The left lane of Interstate 5 continues with an HOV-2 restriction to the I-5 Reversible Lanes at Shoreline. 08/30/06
Exit 181 provides separate ramps for SR 524 (196th Street SW) west to Lynwood and east to Alderwood Mall Parkway north and Thrashers Corner. 08/30/06
Two lanes depart Interstate 5 south for Exit 181 (SR 524). SR 524 connects motorists with Locust Way south to the city of Brier and Edmonds Community College west of SR 99. 08/30/06
An HOV-only ramp follows and connects Interstate 5 south with the Lynnwood Park and Ride facility at 46th Avenue W south of 200th Street SW. 08/30/06
Southbound at the Lynnwood Park and Ride off-ramp. A half diamond interchange coincides with the HOV exit between Interstate 5 north and 44th Avenue W. 08/30/06
Turning more southerly, Interstate 5 continues toward the diamond interchange (Exit 179) with 200th Street SW at Mountlake Terrace. 08/27/06
Drivers bound for Mountlake Terrace part ways with Interstate 5 south at Exit 179 (220th Street SW). 220th Street SW ends at 52nd Avenue W in a residential area to the east and 9th Avenue S in Edmonds to the west. 08/27/06
Interstate 5 next meets SR 104 at a three-quarter cloverleaf interchange (Exit 177) on the King County line. The state route is one of a handful of that utilize ferry crossings of Puget Sound to make connections with land-based routes. SR 104 continues west from Edmonds via ferry to Kingston in Kitsap County. 08/30/06
Nearing the Exit 177 off-ramp to SR 104 (NE 205th Street) on Interstate 5 south in Mountlake Terrace. A 31.75 mile-route, SR 104 travels between Lake Forest Park and U.S. 101 south of Discovery Bay. 08/30/06
Exit 177 leaves Interstate 5 south ahead of the 236th Street SW half diamond interchange to make the connection with SR 104. Drivers merging onto I-5 south from 236th Street may also access Exit 177. SR 104 follows Ballinger Way southeast to Lake Forest Park and its eastern terminus at SR 522 (Bothell Way). NE 205th Street carries the state route west to Edmonds Way in Edmonds. 08/27/06
