Interstate 10 was widened to six overall lanes between the county line and U.S. 319 during the 2006-09 Moving I-10 Forward project. Florida 263 (Capital Circle) meets at Exit 196 in northwestern reaches of the city. The state highway encircles the western and southwestern city limits of Tallahassee between U.S. 27 at Lake Jackson and U.S. 319 & Florida 61 at Lakeside. First photo taken 06/11/06. U.S. 319 (Capital Circle) and Florida 61 (Thomasville Road) come together at Exit 203 in northeast Tallahassee. Florida 61 travels Thomasville Road north from U.S. 27 (Monroe Street) to merge with U.S. 319 (Capital Circle) nearby. U.S. 319 travels the Capital Circle south from Florida 61 (Thomasville Road) around the city to Lakeside and Crawfordville Road. At Crawfordville Road, Florida 61 returns and the two merge on the southward drive toward Wakulla County. Originally a single lane ramp descended to Florida 61 (Thomasville Road) and a frontage road connector to U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE). This ramp was expanded with the Moving I-10 Forward project to two overall lanes, with improvements made to the adjacent on-ramp and connecting service road (Florida 162). First photo taken 03/13/10. Exit 203 departs Interstate 10 east for U.S. 319, Florida 61 and Florida 162 (Raymond Diehl Road). Florida 162 constitutes a 0.292-mile connector between Thomasville Road and Capital Circle NE on the south side of I-10. The state road was commissioned in August of 2006 and is not signed. Road work added separate ramps in the westbound direction to U.S. 319 and Florida 61. Eastbound traffic gained additional lanes to Florida 61 (Thomasville Road), Florida 162 (Raymond Diehl Road) and U.S. 319 (Capital Circle). The eastbound off-ramp intersects Florida 61 at Florida 162, just west of U.S. 319.
Traffic to U.S. 319 northbound is directed onto Thomasville Road north for its merge with U.S. 319 nearby. South bound U.S. 319 motorists should continue straight on Raymond Diehl Road for its intersection with Capital Circle NE. First photo taken 07/22/04. Second photo taken 03/13/10. |
