Interstate 10 Westbound (Leon County)

Interstate 10 west
Nearing the Tallahassee area, U.S. 90 meets Interstate 10 at the first of four interchanges to the capital city. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 07/13/07.
A six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange (Exits 209B/A) handles the movements to U.S. 90 (Mahan Drive) from Interstate 10 west. Exit 209A to U.S. 90 west directs motorists to both Florida State University and Florida A & M University. Photo taken 07/13/07.
U.S. 90 leads east from the suburbs of Tallahassee to the Jefferson County of Monticello (junction U.S. 19). Pictured here is the Exit 209B ramp departure from Interstate 10 west. Note the sign changes made in 2008. First photo taken 07/13/07. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
The next four exits all serve the state capital and city of Tallahassee. Interstate 10 enters the city limits briefly within Exit 209 and again at Miccosukee Road.
This sign was replaced by 2008. First photo taken 07/13/07. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
Exit 209A follows quickly onto U.S. 90 (Mahan Drive) west into east Tallahassee. Mahan Drive travels initially as a two-lane road before expanding into a busy arterial ahead of junction U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE). Road work is underway in 2011 to four-lane the route entirely between Interstate 10 and Capital Circle NE. First photo taken 07/13/07. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
Interstate 10 angles northwest across Miccosukee Road (Leon County 0347) before turning westward on the four-mile drive to U.S. 319 (Exit 203). Sign changes made between 2006 and 2008 revised the distance to Pensacola upward from 190 to 203. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 12/05/10.
Next in line for westbound drivers are the Exit 203 ramps to U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE) and Florida 61 (Thomasville Road). This interchange was upgraded to add a direct ramp to U.S. 319 as part of the Moving I-10 Forward project. Work began in October 2006 and was completed in 2009. First photo taken 12/05/10. Second photo taken 06/02/06.

A two-lane off-ramp serves interests to U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE) around the east and south side of Tallahassee and Florida 61 (Thomasville Road) southwest into downtown. Florida 61 represents original U.S. 319 alignment through the city and the hidden state road designation of U.S. 319 northward to Georgia. Photo taken 12/05/10.
Historical look at the Exit 203 diamond interchange before Moving I-10 Forward roadwork began. Interstate 10 was widened to six lanes from U.S. 319 westward to the Gadsden County line during the project. Photo taken 06/02/06.
Exit 203 leaves Interstate 10 west for U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE) and Florida 61 (Thomasville Road). U.S. 319 represents a 318-mile route between Apalachicola and Wadley, Georgia. Florida 61 leads north from U.S. 98 to downtown Tallahassee before merging with U.S. 319 via Thomasville Road. Use U.S. 319 north to Alfred B. MacClay State Gardens and Florida 61 south for the Civic Center. Photo taken 12/05/10.
Exit 203 immediately partitions into separate ramps for U.S. 319 (Capital Circle NE) and Florida 61 (Thomasville Road). Originally a single exit ramp required motorists to use Florida 61 to make the connection with Capital Circle NE. U.S. 319 and Florida 61 merge nearby to provide a four-lane route to Thomasville, Georgia. Photo taken 12/05/10.
Florida 155 (Meridian Road) passes over an expanded Interstate 10, two miles east of the six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange (Exit 199) with U.S. 27 (Monroe Street). Photo taken 12/05/10.
Interstate 10 nears the Sharer Road overpass on the one-mile approach to Exit 199 (U.S. 27). Monroe Street carries U.S. 27 south into downtown Tallahassee for the state capital complex and Florida State University. Note the sign changes in 2008 that replaced Havana with the street name of U.S. 27. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
As part of the Moving I-10 Forward road work, Exit 199 was expanded outward to smooth all ramps to and from U.S. 27. U.S. 27 (Monroe Street) leads northwest from Tallahassee to Lake Jackson, Havana, and Bainbridge, Georgia. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 12/05/10.
Exit 199 carries all traffic in unison along a two-lane ramp to U.S. 27 (Monroe Street). The 1,364 mile-route stretches from Miami north to Fort Wayne, Indiana, but originally continued all the way to St. Ignace, Michigan. Photo taken 12/05/10.
Florida 263 (Capital Circle NW) encircles the west side of Tallahassee between U.S. 319 and U.S. 27 at Lake Jackson. The state road interchanges with Interstate 10 at Exit 196 in two miles. Photo taken 07/30/08.
Florida 263 leads south to Tallahassee Regional Airport before ending in unsigned fashion at U.S. 319 (Capital Circle SW) and Florida 363 (Woodville Highway). The route at Exit 196 was expanded to eight lanes in association with the Moving I-10 Forward project. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 12/05/10.
Nearing the expanded Exit 203 off-ramp to Florida 263 (Capital Circle NW). Much of the route carries just two lanes, with the exception of the arterial section between Interstate 10 and U.S. 90. First photo taken 06/02/06. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
New sign bridges direct motorists to Florida 263 (Capital Circle NW) south to U.S. 90 and the Regional Airport and north to its end at junction U.S. 27 at Lake Jackson. Florida 263 travels 15.04 miles overall between Florida 363 (Woodville Highway) and Lake Jackson. First photo taken 11/16/08. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
Bisecting Lake Talquin State Forest, Interstate 10 reduces back to four lanes and nears a set of rest areas. Photo taken 11/16/08.
Continuing west from the rest area, Interstate 10 crosses paths again with U.S. 90 in four miles at Exit 192. First photo taken 11/16/08. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
Interstate 10 spans the Ochlocknee River, the dividing line between Leon and Gadsden Counties. The freeway across the river opened to traffic in 1972. First photo taken 11/16/08. Second photo taken 11/16/08.
