Interstate 95 North
Interstate 95 crosses the Delaware state line by this welcome sign adjacent to Dixie Line Road. 09/27/09
Otts Chapel Road spans the Delaware Turnpike just ahead of the Newark Toll Plaza. High speed E-ZPass lanes separate from the I-95 main line to the left. 09/27/09
The Newark Toll Plaza was reconstructed as part of an American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project between April 2010 and June 2011. New toll booths were constructed in addition to open road tolling. 09/27/09
Leaving the Newark Toll Plaza, I-95 advances pass the Welsh Tract Road overpass to a parclo interchange (Exit 1) with SR 896 (College Avenue). The arterial serves the University of Delaware (UD) campus, stadium and Bob Carpenter Center. These overheads were replaced by 2011. 09/27/09
SR 896 comprises a divided, four lane arterial north to SR 4 (Christina Parkway) in Newark and south to Summit Bridge across the C & D Canal and Mt. Pleasant. SR 896 was expanded from two to four lanes between I-95 and Glasgow between 1994 and 1996. 09/27/09
Traffic to SR 896 (College Avenue) departs Interstate 95 northbound. Redesign of this exchange including ramp realignments and geometric improvements started in Spring 2018. Construction runs from 2022 to 2025 2026. 09/27/09

Advancing east from SR 896 (South College Avenue), I-95 splits with I-295 to the Delaware Memorial Bridge in seven miles. New York City is referenced on all northbound distance signs on I-95 in Maryland but only once in the Diamond State, along I-295 just beyond the separation with I-95. 12/20/16
Like the Maryland and Chesapeake Houses along the JFK Memorial Highway in Maryland, the Biden Welcome Center lies between the north and southbound roadways of I-95. Gas stations provide on site fuel in each direction. 12/20/16
A directional cloverleaf interchange (Exits 3A/B) joins I-95 with SR 273 just east of the Delaware House service area.
There is no Exit 2 along the Delaware Turnpike as that was reserved for the unconstructed U.S. 301 freeway leading north from Summit Bridge. Had it been built, it would have tied into I-95 west of Salem Church Road. 12/20/16
One half mile ahead of the Biden Welcome Center along Interstate 95 north. 12/20/16
The original Delaware Turnpike Service Area was built in 1964. It closed in September 2009 and was subsequently demolished to make way for a new modern facility. Reopening in June 2010, the 42,000 square foot facility houses eight eateries and four shops.1 12/20/16

SR 1 carries between 70,000 and 100,000 vehicles a day of commuter and long distance traffic between I-95 and U.S. 13 at Tybouts Corner. The adjacent Christiana Mall retail area also adds a significant amount of traffic to both freeways. 12/19/22

Confirming marker posted after the Churchmans Road overpass. Construction to replace the aging SR 58 span ran from March 2004 to December 2005. The $13.1 million project accommodated the 2007-08 widening of Interstate 95 to ten overall lanes between SR 1 and I-295.2 12/24/18
