I-70 and I-83 were planned to connect with I-95 in the Baltimore city limits originally. Both end prematurely, with the Baltimore Beltway providing connectivity from I-95 for I-70 west to Frederick and Hagerstown and I-83 north from Towson to York and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. 06/20/12
Northbound I-95 at Exit 49A for I-695 east. The southern third of the Baltimore Beltway doubles as a truck route for industrial ares of Curtis Bay and Dundalk, as well as the through route for vehicles carrying hazardous cargo. 06/20/12

Entering the city of Baltimore ahead of Joh Avenue, maintenance responsibilities for Interstate 95 shift from the Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA) to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA). 12/21/22
With financing from toll collection, MTA manages I-95 in two components: the Fort McHenry Tunnel Approach, from Exit 50 to I-895 at Exit 61, and along the John F. Kennedy Highway from the Baltimore City limits northeast to the Delaware state line. 12/21/22

Exit 50 A departs I-95 north for U.S. 1 ALT (Caton Avenue) south to Morrell Park and West Baltimore in Baltimore and Hammonds Ferry Road to Lansdowne. 12/21/22
The c/d roadway for Caton Avenue extends 1.66 miles to a point beyond the half diamond interchange (Exit 51) with Washington Boulevard. The roadway was designed to bypass ramps for the planned east end of I-70. An abandoned slip ramp follows at the Desoto Road underpass. 12/21/22
Interstate 395 spurs north from I-95 in two miles to Camden Yards (home of the Baltimore Orioles MLB franchise and Baltimore Ravens NFL team), the Inner Harbor and Johns Hopkins Medical Campus. MD 295 parallels I-395 to the west along Russell Street. 12/21/22

Omitted at Exit 52, MD 295 transitions from the Baltimore-Washington Expressway onto Russell Street at Gywnns Falls. North from I-95, Russell Street heads to M&T Bank Stadium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards and UMAB. 12/21/22
MD 295 converges with Interstate 395 north at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Poorly signed, MD 295 extends north along Paca Street to U.S. 40 (Greene / Paca Streets) west of Downtown Baltimore. 12/21/22
Exit 54 departs from I-95 north just beyond the exchange with I-395 onto MD 2 (Hanover Street) south to Cherry Hill and Brooklyn. All vehicles carrying hazardous cargo must exit I-95 at the suceeding ramp to Key Highway / McComas Street. 12/21/22
Formally named Cal Ripken Way after the Orioles Baseball Hall of Famer, I-395 spurs 1.24 miles north to Howard and Conway Streets at the Baltimore Convention Center. The western branch (I-395A) connects with Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Mt. Clare and Downtown. 12/21/22
A two lane flyover ascends from I-95 north to Interstate 395 as part of the directional T interchange (Exit 53) over the Patapsco River. Construction for I-395 was completed on December 9, 1982. 12/21/22
Forthcoming MD 2 heads south through Downtown Baltimore to South Baltimore and the Hanover Street Bridge across the Patapsco River Middle Branch. Key Highway mirrors the Northwest Harbor southeast from the Inner Harbor area to meet I-95 at Exit 55 across from the cruise terminal at the Port of Baltimore. 07/06/10
East from Interstate 395, I-95 reaches the Fort McHenry Toll Plaza in three miles. MD 2 travels 80.56 miles overall between U.S. 1 (North Avenue) in Baltimore and Solomons Island off the Patuxent River. 07/06/10

Entering Bore 3 along Interstate 95 north. The tunnel system was the last section of I-95 completed in Maryland. It opened to traffic in 1985. 12/18/07, 06/22/05
Interstate 95 passes just south of Fort McHenry as it crosses the Patapsco River Northwest Harbor. Passing is restricted through the tolled tunnel in all four bores. 06/22/05
Curving northeasterly, Interstate 95 emerges from the Fort McHenry Tunnel north of Lazaretto Point and west of the Port of Baltimore Seagirt terminal. 06/22/05
Tolls for the tunnel increased to $3.00 per passenger vehicle on October 1, 2011. Rates increased again to $4.00, but further changes were implemented offering discounts to Maryland based E-ZPass account holders versus out of state travelers. 07/06/10
Changes made at the Fort McHenry toll plaza between 2007 and 2010 replaced the concrete surface with asphalt and added two separate E-ZPass lanes with a 30 mile per hour speed limit.
Beyond the toll collection point, Exit 56 loops south to Keith Avenue. Keith Avenue travels east from Clinton Street to the Colgate section of Baltimore and Point Breeze Industrial Park. 07/06/10
East from the Fort McHenry Tunnel, I-95 and I-895 converge on respective viaducts over railroad lines and Newkirk Street. The two toll roads switch sides at Exit 57, which connects I-95 with Boston and O'Donnell Streets. 07/06/10
Interstate Avenue becomes Boston Street west of Exit 57 to Caton and Fells Point. O'Donnell Street parallels to the north from the Brewers Hill neighborhood east to Dundalk Avenue.
Ramp stubs for Interstate Avenue and O'Donnell Street were built for the unconstructed interchange with I-83. The proposed alignment for I-83 ran west to the south end of the Jones Falls Expressway through Fells Point. Community opposition from the historic neighborhood ultimately stopped the freeway from being built. 07/06/10

Dundalk Avenue comprises a tree lined boulevard southeast from MD 150 (Eastern Avenue) to Dundalk, the Dundalk Marine Terminal, and Turners Station. MD 150 meets I-95 at the ensuing exit. 07/06/10

A Clearview-font based sign was added here in place of this overhead by 2011. 07/06/10
An abandoned railroad bridge spanning I-95 north at Exit 59 was demolished by early 2008. MD 150 originates in Baltimore from an unmarked beginning. The state route extends east from Essex to Middle River and Chase. 12/18/07
Continuing north across a viaduct over MD 151 (North Point Road), Interstate 95 north reaches a wye interchange (Exit 60) with Moravia Road west in one half mile. Moravia Road is a controlled-access connector with partial interchanges at U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) and Interstate 895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Thruway). 07/06/10
Moravia Road angles northwest from Exit 60 to the Frankford community of Baltimore and U.S. 1 (Bel Air Road) at Wilson Heights.
The Winlass Freeway, a cancelled route east to Interstate 695 at Chesaco Avenue, would have tied into the Moravia Road interchange. A blank overhead was once posted above the ramp stub for the unconstructed freeway at Exit 60. 07/06/10
Exit 61 leaves Interstate 95 northbound immediately after Moravia Road for U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) east to Rosedale, Glenmar and White Marsh. 07/06/10
U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) parallels the I-95 corridor from Baltimore northeast to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Exit 61 is the only location where the two highways cross paths.
A new sign bridge was installed at Exit 61 to show the Interstate 95 Express Toll Lanes in a half mile. 07/06/10
I-95 converges with I-895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Thruway) where the freeway partitions with the Interstate 95 Express Toll Lanes. Stretching eight miles, the toll lanes opened to traffic on December 6, 2014.1 07/06/10
