Interstate 277 South U.S. 74 North Carolina State Route 27 West
A ramp from Stonewall Street joins I-277/U.S. 74-NC 27 as the freeway curves northwest over McDowell Street (old NC 27) back toward to I-77. NC 27 was realigned onto I-277 from McDowell Street and Morehead Street in 2021. 06/01/12
I-277/U.S. 74-NC 27 curve northwest along southern reaches of Downtown Charlotte, with Exit 1 E connecting the freeway to nearby points of interests. 06/01/12
A distributor ramp (Exit 1 E) takes traffic to Stonewall Street, Kenilworth Avenue and South Boulevard 1.25 miles ahead of the western end of I-277 at I-77/U.S. 21 (Exits 1 C-B). 03/12/22
Kenilworth Avenue ties into Stonewall Street at Charlottetowne Avenue to the southeast. Stonewall Street continues northwest paralleling I-277/U.S. 74 to Mint Street and Bank of America Stadium.
South Boulevard and Caldwell Street come together at Stonewall Street. South Boulevard is an former route of U.S. 21 southward to Pineville, and U.S. 521 south of Woodlawn Road. 03/12/22

I-77/U.S. 21 continue south from Downtown Charlotte ten miles to their split near Fort Mill, South Carolina. Beyond Rock Hill and the south suburbs, the two continue to Columbia. 03/12/22
NC 27 separates from I-277/U.S. 74 (John Belk Freeway) west at Exit 1 A for Freedom Drive ahead of U.S. 29 (Morehead Street). NC 27 follows Freedom Drive northwest to Paw Creek. 05/26/19
I-277 south concludes at the Freedom Drive (NC 27) overpass. U.S. 74 continues onto Wilkinson Boulevard along a commercial arterial through western Charlotte en route to Gastonia. 05/26/19
