Interstate 295 North
Interstate 295 leaves the Portland vicinity for Yarmouth and Freeport. U.S. 1 crosses paths with the freeway again at a parclo interchange (Exit 15) south of the Yarmouth town center. U.S. 1 loops west of the freeway, intersecting Maine 88 and 115 (Main Street) in the process. 06/27/05
Exit 15 leaves Interstate 295 at the U.S. 1 overpass. Maine 115 (Main Street / Walnut Hill Road) joins Yarmouth with Maine 9 near Cumberland to the northwest. The state route otherwise ends at Maine 88 in Yarmouth. Maine 88 enters Yarmouth from Cumberland Foreside to the south before ending at U.S. 1.

A 19.42 mile route, Maine 196 travels north from Brunswick to Lewiston by way of Lisbon Falls and Lisbon. 06/30/11
Just across the Androscoggin, Interstate 295 nears Exit 31 for SR 196. The Androscoggin River flows 178 miles southeast from Umbagog Lake into the Kennebec River at Merrymeeting Bay. The river separates the city of Auburn and Lewiston upstream. 06/30/11
Exit 31 leaves I-295 north for Maine 196. Maine 196 (Lewiston Road) intersects U.S. 201 nearby. U.S. 201 (Augusta Road) passes under I-295 with no direct access while en route north from Topsham to the town of Bowdoin. 06/30/11
Taking Exit 31, drivers reach Maine 196 just west of the intersection with Topsham Fair Mall Road. The adjacent road winds southwest by a number of shopping centers and big box retail to Winter Street in Topsham. 06/30/11
Five mile notice is given to northbound travelers along Interstate 295 for the impending end at I-95. This sign lines a rural stretch west of the Abagadasset River in the town of Richmond. 07/01/12

The final interchange of I-295 north joins the freeway with SR 9 & 126 (Lewiston Road) adjacent to the West Gardiner Service Plaza. The new facility replaced the Augusta rest area closed by 2005. 07/01/12

Tolls collected at the north end of I-295 bring motorists onto the final stretch of the Maine Turnpike leading north to Augusta. 07/01/12
The main line toll plaza includes E-ZPass dedicated lanes where motorists may proceed through at 10 MPH or less. The booths lie under an overpass originally used for the ramp to the Maine Turnpike south. 07/01/12
