N.C. 8 travels through central portions of the state between New London and the Virginia state line near Lawsonville. Measuring 93 miles, the state route overlays portions of U.S. 52 / Interstate 285 and the I-74 corridor north from Lexington to Winston-Salem. N.C. 8 forms a multi-state route with Virginia 8, which extends nearly 56 miles north to Floyd and Christiansburg.
