North Carolina 24 & 27

North Carolina 24 & 27 share 108 miles of pavement through the south central part of the state. The tandem generally travel a rural path, cutting a swath through Uwharrie National Forest on one stretch. Westward toward Charlotte, the highways follow a four-lane route from Albemarle to Mint Hill.

Interstate 40 & North Carolina 24 west

North Carolina 24 splits with Interstate 40 west for its original route west to Turkey, Elliott, and Clinton. North Carolina 24 Business follows the old route (College Street) east to junction North Carolina 50 (Memorial Drive). North Carolina 50 otherwise merges with U.S. 117 north through Bowdens and Faison.
A rest area for Interstate 40 travelers resides within the median of the freeway at the Exit 364 diamond interchange. Access to the facility is only available from North Carolina 24 however. Photo taken 06/01/05.
