U.S. 31 crosses the Baldwin County line just east of Perdido and west of Nokomis. 06/05/06
U.S. 31 meets CR 47 north 0.6 miles west of the Escambia County line. CR 47 arcs northwest through Perdido to I-65 at Exit 45, Rabun and I-65 again at Exit 37 and SR 287. CR 47 connects with CR 61 (Lottie Road) north to Lottie and Redtown. 06/05/06
U.S. 31 meets CR 112 (Old Pensacola Road) east just inside the Bay Minette city limits. CR 112 runs southeast 30.20 miles across large tracts of timberland to the Florida state line along the Perdido River. 02/08/06
CR 112 was signed in place of SR 112 in 2006. CR 112 (Old Pensacola Road) east becomes CR 184 at Muscogee in Escambia County, Florida. 02/08/06
SR 112 became CR 112 (Old Pensacola Road) in July 2004 when Baldwin County exchanged mileage with ALDOT for a southward extension of SR 181 over CR 27 (Belforest Road) between Malbis and U.S. 98 near Weeks Bay. 07/01/01
Entering Downtown Bay Minette, U.S. 31 encircles the Baldwin County Courthouse at Courthouse Square. Beginning on the north side of the square, SR 287 follows Hand Avenue 1.97 miles to SR 59 (McMeans Avenue / Rabun Road). SR 287 replaced SR 59 on Hand Avenue when the Bay Minette Bypass opened to the northwest. 07/01/01
U.S. 31 southbound leaves Courthouse Square along D'Olive Street west 0.6 miles to SR 59 (McMeans Avenue). 06/06/06
U.S. 31 combines with SR 59 south from D'Olive Street at McMeans Avenue. D'Olive Street extends five miles west to SR 225 near Carpenter. 01/01/10

U.S. 31 Alabama Route 59 South
U.S. 31/SR 59 overlap for 10.63 miles between Bay Minette and Pine Haven. Known as Gulf Shores Parkway, the four lane highway is part of the route between I-65 and points north to the resort areas at Gulf Shores and Orange Beach along the Gulf of Mexico. 06/06/06
U.S. 31/SR 59 pass over a CSX Railroad line ahead of CR 138 (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard). 06/06/06
CR 138 travels west through Douglasville in southwest Bay Minette to Crossroads at SR 225 (Blakeley Road) and CR 86. CR 138 was a state route until sometime after 1982. 04/09/09
Dickman Road west and Freeview Avenue east come together at U.S. 31/SR 59. Dickman Road links Gulf Shores Parkway with Bay Minette Industrial Park and Nicholsville Road (CR 40). 06/07/06

The northern branch of CR 39 connects with CR 138 (Hurricane Road) near Crossroads. 01/01/10
A set of flashers operate at the intersection of U.S. 31/SR 59 and Ryland Street in Stapleton. 06/06/06
The eastern branch of CR 39 follows Styx River Road from Stapleton. 04/09/09
CR 39 ends at a gate 1.25 miles west of the Styx River in a forested hunting area. The county road otherwise serves a handful of homes. 04/09/09
U.S. 31 turns southwest from Pine Haven and SR 59 (Gulf Shores Parkway) to Spanish Fort. SR 59 continues Gulf Shores Parkway south to Loxley, Robertsdale, Foley and Gulf Shores. 06/06/06
9.81 miles of U.S. 31 south remain to U.S. 90 in Spanish Fort. SR 59 (Gulf Shores Parkway) travels south 5.89 miles to Interstate 10 at Exit 44 in Loxley and 35.24 miles to SR 182 (Beach Boulevard) in Gulf Shores. 05/16/04

U.S. 31 proceeds 6.19 miles southwest from SR 59 to SR 181 (Malbis Plantation Parkway) / CR 27 (Jimmy Faulkner Drive) by the Daphne city limits. Suburban development increases along the two lane stretch south along the Loxley city line. 04/09/09
U.S. 31 enters the city of Spanish Fort ahead of SR 181 (Malbis Plantation Parkway) south and CR 27 (Jimmy Faulkner Drive) north. The three routes converge north of the Eastern Shore Center retail complex and I-10 at Exit 38. 06/06/06
SR 181 (Malbis Plantation Parkway) leads 18.24 miles south to Malbis, Belforest and U.S. 98 near Weeks Bay. Signed in 2006, SR 181 was extended beyond U.S. 90 over CR 27 in a 2004 mileage swap between Baldwin County and ALDOT for SR 112. Jimmy Faulkner Drive (CR 27) north was constructed in 2004 to the newly built Spanish Fort High School and Bromley Road. 06/06/06
U.S. 31 (Spanish Fort Boulevard) continues west from Malbis Plantation Parkway along the TimberCreek golf course community in Daphne. Construction from 2017 to December 2021 expanded U.S. 31 into a five lane boulevard west from SR 181 to SR 225. 10/11/16
The eastern branch of CR 27 stems north from U.S. 31 (Spanish Fort Boulevard) along Stagecoach Road a half mile west of SR 181/CR 27. 10/11/16
CR 72 spurs 3.4 miles northwest, following Buzbee Road from a short section of Stagecoach Road, to Buzbee Landing on Bay Minette Creek outside Spanish Fort. 10/11/16
A traffic light was added along U.S. 31 (Spanish Fort Boulevard) at Timbercreek Boulevard by 2009. Timbercreek Boulevard is the main access point into the TimberCreek development from U.S. 31 and SR 181. 10/11/16
Blakeley Way, the western branch of CR 72, arcs 1.2 miles northwest from U.S. 31 (Spanish Fort Boulevard) at Wayside Drive to SR 225. 10/11/16
School Road, like Blakeley Way, arcs northwest from U.S. 31 to SR 225. Westminster Drive ties into Spanish Fort Boulevard at School Road from the south. 10/11/16
Following Blakeley Drive, SR 225 heads north from U.S. 31 (Spanish Fort Boulevard) to Historic Fort Blakeley State Park, Crossroads and Stockton. 04/09/09
State Route 225 measures 23.91 miles in length from Spanish Fort north to SR 59 at Stockton. SR 225 meets I-65 at Exit 31. 10/11/16
U.S. 31 concludes 0.209 miles west of SR 225 at U.S. 90 (Old Spanish Trail), north of the Spanish Fort Town Center retail complex and I-10/U.S. 98 at Exit 35. 10/11/16
U.S. 90 (Old Spanish Trail) turns east from I-10/U.S. 98 in 0.94 miles to Lake Forest in northern Daphne. U.S. 90 west overtakes Spanish Fort Boulevard from U.S. 31, 0.44 miles to U.S. 98 and Battleship Parkway at the Shellbank River. 10/11/16
U.S. 31 was truncated east from Mobile to U.S. 90 sometime after 1993. Prior to that time, U.S. 31 combined with U.S. 90/98 (Battleship Parkway) across the north end of Mobile Bay to the Bankhead Tunnel into Mobile. 10/11/16
U.S. 31 historically ended at Broad and Government Streets west of Downtown Mobile, where U.S. 43 and U.S. 45 also concluded at U.S. 90/98. 10/11/16
The previous end shield for U.S. 31 at U.S. 90 in Spanish Fort. U.S. 98 bypasses this junction along a short expressway northwest from I-10 at Exit 35 to a wye interchange with U.S. 90 along Battleship Parkway. 10/26/99
