U.S. Highway 50 West - Prince Georges County

Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 West
A six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange joins Maryland 197 with Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 at Exit 11. Maryland 197 constitutes a commercial arterial southeast to U.S. 301 (Crain Highway) and a through road northward to Bowie State University and Laurel. Photo taken 01/02/08.
Maryland 197 tallies 14.64 miles overall between U.S. 301 and Maryland 198 at Laurel. Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 expand to eight overall lanes with the left-hand lane dedicated to HOV-2 motorists. Photo taken 01/02/08.

Maryland 704 (Martin Luther King Jr. Highway) crosses paths with Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 west at Exit 8. The state route continues Martin Luther King Jr. Highway east from the District of Columbia line 6.75 miles to Buena Vista. Photo taken 01/02/08.

Lottsford Vista Road travels over Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 one half mile east of the Exit 8 partial-cloverleaf interchange. Maryland 704 meets the road at Buena Vista ahead of its end with Maryland 450 (Annapolis Road). Photo taken 01/02/08.
One mile east of the Exit 7 directional interchange with Interstates 95 & 495. Interstates 95 & 495 follow the eastern half of the Capital Beltway from Springfield, Virginia northeast to College Park, Maryland. Exit 8 departs Interstate 595 & U.S. 50 west for Maryland 704 (Martin Luther King Jr. Highway). Maryland 704 west continues a short distance to Glenarden and Palmer Park. Photo taken 01/02/08.
Continuing west from Maryland 704, Interstate 95 immediately enters the Capital Beltway interchange. Interstates 95 & 495 north continue to Greenbelt and College Park before a partition east of Silver Springs. Photo taken 01/02/08.
Exit 7A consists of a flyover ramp onto Interstates 95 & 495 south for Andrews A.F.B., Forest Heights, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and Alexandria, Virginia. Photo taken 01/02/08.
Exit 7B partitions into separate ramps to Interstates 95 & 495 north and Garden City Drive west to the New Carrollton Metro Station. Garden City Drive stems west from a partial "Y" interchange with the beltway to U.S. 50 west of Pennsy Drive. 0.22 miles of the local road comprise hidden Maryland 950. Photo taken 01/02/08.
Leaving U.S. 50 west for Interstates 95 & 495 south to Richmond, Virginia. Interstate 595 ends silently as U.S. 50 continues west to Cheverly and Washington itself.
